[ QUOTE ]
[shameless compliments] My wife, who had no idea who you were before the Queer Eye episode, is now an instant fan. I first read Play Poker Like a Pro. Boy was that bad, but at the time it actually taught me that poker was more than about drinking beer and throwing money in a pot. Then I read SSHE and it blew my mind. It single handedly taught me more about poker than any other book. In short, tho it's a lame "suck up" sounding post, you've done a lot of good for this community, Ed. Don't let the haters get you down. [/shamless complement] [/ QUOTE ] I gave the book Hold Em Poker For Advanced Players, by Sklansky, to a guy who didn't return it while in Costa Rica. I only glanced through it as I was not into learning THAT level of poker that much. I have almost all his books. I learned FTOP by reading No Limit Hold'em, by David Sklansky and Ed Miller: Theory and Practice recently. I'm not sure if that part about on Fundamental Theorem of Poker (explained again) was written by David or Ed, but I certainly appreciate it. It was also explained further in Harrington on Hold'em series. I intend to apply the knowledge of these books at 2006 WSOP. I had never watched QEFTSG, even when Phil Gordon was on it last year (I forgot to record it while at work), but it is a great show. Those guys are funny. "And here a skinny 19 year old who is not playing very good poker is yelling at me to my face."
Honestly, why wouldn't you just smash him, outside if not in the pokerroom? Are we all scared of litigation? |

[ QUOTE ]
In the few years that I've been playing, it's been very clear to me that along w/ a lot of really great people, the poker world also contains many of the sleaziest, scuzziest characters around. [/ QUOTE ] I have found the same to be true, which is one of several reasons that I don’t play live anymore. As El D pointed out, you often end up sitting with the lowest common denominators of society -- be it ethics, courtesy, personal hygiene, or whatever. Even many of the “good” players are miserable table-coaching nits, including a couple of writers (not you, Ed). Guys like Andy Fox, Tommy Angelo, Clarkmeister, etc. – true ambassadors of the game, are becoming a rare commodity. Online, I can turn off the chat and reduce everyone to tendencies and betting patterns. If congressional legislation passes and kills the quality of the online games, I’m back to the 8 to 5 corporate world with no regrets. |

Hi Masked Man:
I think you got this one right. Fortunately, the good does outweigh the bad. Best wishes, Mason |

Hi hmmmmm:
He was banned from here for spamming and insults. But it's been a while and when he came back he appeared to be behaving so we have allowed him to stay active. However, he, or anyone else for that matter, needs to stay within our posting guidelines. Best wishes, Mason |
