Bart,

re: Corp. Mike and people not knowing why that's his name.

There's an expression in serialized entertainment (TV, comic books, whatever) that every installment is probably someone's first introduction to that product. Every night is, for someone, their first viewing of LATB.

Which is why, as I've said in the past, having Corp. Mike's name in the FAQ makes sense -- so then you can't blame a new viewer for not knowing, but they should've read the FAQ first before emailing. THEN you can be indignant about the email. But, since it isn't ... it's a 100% fair question.

Ahh - My new home is Harrah's North Kansas City - They do a $4 rake on each hand (normal 10% $4 max)

Are you sure they dont charge time or something. Just seems super odd.

I always just figured Corporation was his first name.

Seriously, though, I have never heard the story of why he goes by Corp. Mike - I always assumed it was because he and his mom run some kind of businesses/investments in the area. I know his last initial is L, though.

I've only played in the poker room there about 6 or 7 times because I only go up there when I can get a few friends together, and I've never seen them take anything out of a pot. My longest session was ~4 hours or so, and nothing.

from last nights thread:

the non-poker games in California aren't banked by the house (the way it's done in Vegas). It's supposed to be "every man for himself" at the table, just like poker. But, most people don't roll in with $200K in their pocket. So, a group of people with some big $$$$ actually banks all bets at these tables. I believe Mike's mom Trish is one of the BIG bankers and Mike runs the biz.

My two cents:
And the group that has the money is referred to as the "corporation"
