[ QUOTE ]
Two examples from season 1: In a Michael/Walt flashback Walt looks at a boko with pictures of birds and the bird he's looking at crashes into his window. Locke teaches him to throw a knife and he perfects it in like 20 seconds. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, the bird thing is on par with the polar bear thing. However we've since been given evidence that polar bears were on the island as part of the Hanso Foundation's testing. The bird could just be coincidence/misdirection. The others have referred to Walt as 'very special' which doesn't necessarily mean superhuman powers. Could explain things like why he could pick up throwing a knife so quickly. I guess that's part of keeping the storyline interesting. Keeping the viewers in constant flux between what opposing theories about what really explains the ongoings of the island. During season 1 I remember believing much more that Walt must have had some amazing powers. Seems that's been played down. Maybe it will resurface. Clue's asking about Walt "being where he wasn't supposed to be" was interesting. Anyways if the show does go very supernatural that just makes it too easy to explain things a la deus ex machina and not keep the viewers theorizing what is really happening. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Also I'm doubtful that Walt really has any supernatural powers [/ QUOTE ] You're not very good at Lost. [/ QUOTE ] Didn't the writers say they weren't going supernatural? If that's true I would like to see how they explaim everything that has been going on. [/ QUOTE ] Yea- like the bird incident or the perfect dice rolls in the backgammon game. He's got to have supernatural powers. There's also some other weird stuff- like the comic book polar bear and then Walt encountering a real one. I think he has some sort of telepathy or projecting powers |

Yeah, there's a lot of evidence pointing towards Walt's powers. But the writer's have left outs in explaining it all away. And it's just my guess that they will do this. I could be very wrong. Noway I would have guessed this in season 1, and maybe by season three I'll be back on that bandwagon.

[/ QUOTE ] Yea, they probably just meant he's good with knives. Nice catch. I'm not saying the answer to everything will be "supernatural!" Remember though, we're on an island that has healed two debilitating phyiscal conditions, housed polar bears amoung palm trees, and is guarded by a myterious cloud of black smoke. There is certainly some element of weird science to it all, but that does not mean that the writiers will cop out and use some bs to explain everything that happens. |

Let's not forget Walt hiding under the tarp with Michael during the downpour, Michael saying he'll go look for the dog as soon as it stops raining, and then the rain stopping imMEDiately.

The main thing that lead me to believe this was them giving an explanation to why there was a polar bear on the island. Yes there's a lot of incidents that make my theory look weak. I'm expecting this to go more the weird science route than supernatural. Maybe it'll be a combination of the two.

[/ QUOTE ] Yup, definitely another good example, and I'm sure there are others I've forgotten. It's pretty shortsighted to say there's nothing unnatural about Walt. |

Not fictional, but not necessarily accepted as true yet either. The first time someone proposed any scientific discovery it probably seemed sort of supernatural (e.g. theories on light, quantum physics, whatever). |
