Default Re: So how much do they make???

my goal this year is to make $1M during 2006. I play 10 tables of 10/20 NL on Party, 10/20 NL Stars, 10/25 and 25/50 UB, and 10/20 and 25/50 on FTP. I got off to a real real sticky start at 10/20 NL Party, but I think things are going to start moving in the right direction. I'm just a little bit behind schedule.

and when players run bad, they tend to attribute a larger portion of sucess to running well, and conversely when people are running well, they attribue less of it to variance.

I agree completely with this.

I know I made comments in the past about you and I hope there isn't any bad blood. But your comments insinuating my lack of experience are just wrong. I think that you greatly underestimate the number of hands that I have played in the past year. Just because I don't post as much as others on 2+2 doesn't mean that I don't have the # of hands that many have.

About my winrate/earn. I have had great sucess this year. But that has come from alot of hard work. I often see people make excuses when someone posts really great results, stating that person is running well or playing above there expectation. I don't think you or gambler know anything about the games I play in as neither of you play in them, so your comments or insinuations about how I have been running are meaningless as you have no experience. Since you do play the 10/20 you can comment about HEK sucess, but if you think him running at 3.5 ptBB/100 is way above his true winrate they you have a huge misconception of that game.

Aba, a few things,

1.) There is certainly no bad blood between us at all

2.) As I said in my post, HEK could well make a million bucks this year without running too much above average... All i said was, he has one month in his career where he made over 100k, and his assumption of making $1 million this year assumes he AVERAGES 120k a month for the rest of the year. He could be a lot better, it could easily happen, etc... All i am saying is, that assumption could be tainted by running well recently, or maybe he is just getting in a [censored] more hands now.

3.) I have played higher stakes than i play, up to 250-500 limit and 50-100 NL. I have logged a decent number of hands (not statistically WR wise) but enough to know how these games play for sure. I am sure you are a well above average player in these games. I am sure you and HEK are both better players than me on the whole. It's not at all that i mean to trvialize the sucess you guys have, i don't think you have luckboxed you way into anything. All i am saying is, numerous good players can affirm, you can have 100k stretches where you are playing winning poker (not neccesarily your A+ game, but well enough so you should be seeing consistent profits) and not make money. Now, as i have said and will always say, you and HEK could be the two best [censored] players in the world, but the fact that you havent encountered one of these streches in the last 6 months, which is where i assume a realtivley high % of your career earnings have been, inherently means that you have run better than a lot of people. FWIW, i don't think 3.5 PT BB/100 is at all overly ambitious in the party 10-20 for a good player likes you guys, all everyone is saying is, it would be surprising if your WR was the same after 600k hands as it has been over your last 150-200k hands.

I don't want to come off as some jealous nit trivializing the accomplishments you guys have made, that is not the situation. All i am saying is, (and i feel comfortable saying this uncatergoically) that the biggest winners in a game are also usually almost always running the best. Your EV in your games almost definitly isn't 320k a month or whatever sick pace you are on [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]. It's not that you aren't one of the best players, obviously you just understand that it requires running well to put up numbers like that. I have been pretty forthcoming on these forums about my poor results recently, but latley things have been starting to change for me. Natrually, people want to listen to who is bring home the $$$, because [censored], that is what this game is about. My point is, by the end of the summer, i'll have played a few hundred thousand hands of whatever i am palying with good results, i will be a big winner again, and i will say the same thing... So don't think this is direclty meant for you guys, it was merely a point that i feel is too important to be overlooked. In the meantime, i hpoe you guys continue to tear it up.
