How is this thread here and not there.
Keith Jackson, retired or not will always be my fav. As I've mentioned before, he was giving his first job in radio by the guy in my avatar. (or at least that's the story that's told, but I do know that my grandparents were good friend's with Keith and his wife) Mike Tirico is really good at what he does. Tom Tolbert makes me laugh. |

NCAA tourney - Gus Johnson. This guy is just [censored] excited all the time. [/ QUOTE ] Gus is the man. The NFL should stagger their games throughout the week so he can call every one of them. |

Jon Miller is just outstanding... his voice is perfect for baseball and the guy knows his stuff. It truly means something when this is one of my favorite aquisitions the Giants have made in the last 10 years.
But also, Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper are outstanding as well. As former players, they have a great feel for the game and Krukow is usually spot on on his pitching analysis. They can be "homers" every once in awhile, but Kruk can make a boring or out of reach game enjoyable. My wife isn't a huge baseball fan, but she does like watching games where they are announcing. So I'll say they have cross-over appeal as well. I wish everybody would get a chance to hear Grant Napear (voice of the Sacramento Kings)as well. This guy is insane, and is one of those annoucners I love to hate. He is such a "homer" that sometimes he realizes it and has to go on a short Kings bashing trip. He also has a radio show weekdays on local Sacramento radio where he just abuses any callers that criticize any Kings players or coaches. |

I had to laugh when I saw this article because they described Jon Miller the same way I did, but this is a ranking last year of team announcers in baseball.

Chick Hearn during the Magic Johnson "showtime" era was a joy to listen to. |

Jon Miller rules. If I was an Orioles fan I'd be pretty pissed about that douchebag Angelos running him out of town.
I saw him once when he was here for spring training. I'd heard he is a total slob, so putting on a suit for Sunday Night Baseball was a bit of a chore for him. Anyway, he was sitting outside a grocery store, dressed and looking like a total beach bum, as advertised. I interrupted his dinner to tell him how awesome I thought he was. We chatted for a minute. Seemed like a cool cat. |
