Dontrelle Willis to the Cardinals for Reyes, Duncan, Rasmus, and Pomeranz. Not sure what to think of that one at all right now...

[/ QUOTE ]

Same here. I just don't really see Dontrelle Willis as being that much of a boost over Reyes to justify this trade. I know it's a small sample size, but Reyes has a 3.83 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Compare this to Willis' 3.97 ERA and 1.43 WHIP.

Wow would that be a retarded deal for the Cards.

FYP

The Marlins could get much more than that for Willis. Looks like you're either severely underrating Willis or overrating those Cardinals players. Probably both.

And I'm sure there is absolutely no chance you are doing the opposite (as in overrating Willis and underrating the Cardinals prospects who you've probably never heard of in the first place)...

this doesn't make sense for either side. presumably the marlins would do this because reyes is cheaper than willis and to get rasmus, but rasmus probably won't be ready by the time the team is ready to contend again, and they can get a better package elsewhere.

the cardinals cannot get rid of all their homegrown talent at this point, as the cupboard is growing bare.

This would only be a decent trade if Willis performed like he did the year the Marlins wons the World Series. If he continues to perform like he has so far those year or even just a little bit better, this would be a bad trade for the Cards in my opinion.

He went 22-10 last season with a 2.63 ERA. That's pretty darn good. He's having an off season (for him) this year but despite the higher ERA, he hasn't been as bad as his record indicates.

Plus the guy's only 24 years old.

Willis for those 4 Cardinals players mentioned is ridiculous. In terms of a realistic trade, you would have to start with giving up Rolen, AND Reyes and possibly Rodriguez and even then, St. Louis would be getting the better part of the deal.

I wouldn't trade Rolen by himself for Willis, let alone Rolen and Reyes.

You are on crack. But that's not shocking. The fact that you think they would even want Rodriguez shows just how out of touch you are....almost as out of touch with this issue as the Astros are out of touch with the playoffs.

I wasn't talking about what the Marlins would want. I was talking about what would make the trade slightly more even.

I'm sure the Marlins are just itching to trade one of the best pitchers in the game for 4 unspectacular prospects because, hey, it's the Cardinals!
