The spread my bank uses for USD conversion is 2.5%. I've been trying to find better rates. I've never used a currency exchange before. How would you wire money to a currency exchange using Moneybookers? Do they have a SWIFT code? [/ QUOTE ] For a bank account a 2.5% spread isn't bad. Likely TD's borderless I bet. If you are with them look into setting up a trading account with TD Waterhouse as the spread there is about 1% (100 basis points). I haven't done it but I would guess that it would be simple to transfer money via a TD account and use the exchange rates offered by the trading account. Worth a look anyway, especially if you're changing around tons of cash. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I can't speak for everyone, but I just go to my bank with a USD cheque and let them convert it for me. A couple of bucks isn't a big deal. [/ QUOTE ] Problem is for high stakes players this amounts to more than a couple of bucks. More like $500-$2k/month in exchange fees. Local banks have a gigantic spread for currency exchange, particularly for currencies other than USD. (For Euro the buy/sell spread is over 10%). A currency exchange is a much better option for the high stakes player, which is why it might be worth opening a USD account and just wiring large chunks to the currency exchange when you need to. Funny thing is, I've been really sad to see the U.S. dollar go down because I think I lost like ~9% without doing anything. I remember converting currency when the U.S. dollar was at 1.18. Now it's at 1.10 or something. |

Hey everyone...Mike Haven has made a good suggestion. If I start a second thread, he'll lock and link this one for us. The idea would be to have a nice clean thread so everyone doesn't have to wade through so much to get to the good stuff...and of course this thread would still be here for everyone to see. The same thing's been done for some of the "Official" threads like Neteller, ePassporte, etc.
So, sometime later today I'll start a new thread with the eWallet information...anyone have any changes before I do that? What else should go in right away? savvy76's added some good bank info, maybe I'll summarize that for the second post. Without rehashing this thread too much, anything else I should be reposting there? Of course anyone can post what they like, just thought I'd get as much of the good stuff as possible right at the top. |

Coast Capital - victoria, bc [/ QUOTE ] Finally figured out what post you were responding too, I think. Are you saying it was Coast Capital that told you that you can use the C2P debit card at a teller? I hope that is correct, because that's where I bank as well. If you do this, please post a trip report! |

That is correct, it was CC that said that I could go to a teller (IF I had an accnt there AND took ID) and they'd let me w/d as much as I wanted...I'm sitting on the C2Pay debit card arriving...as soon as it does, I'll be at the bank the next day with a trip report. bk6 |

I have found this thread a little confusing so I would like to ask a couple of scenariou questions.
1) I want to transfer 3k from UB to party. What is the best method? 2) I want to transfer 3k from UB to party and 5k from UB to stars and a week later want to transfer 2k from Stars to Party. What is the best method? I am assuming that all sites have a check method of cashing out right? I would be happy with checks for cashing out but want to be able to transfer relatively large sums of money from site to site for game selection purposes. |
