[ QUOTE ]
Henry is gone. Even though he was injured alot last season and didnt play much this is a change to the Arse of mega gargantuan proportions. [/ QUOTE ] This doesn't make any sense. He was gone for most of the season. Arsenal still finished 4th. I don't see how him leaving is a change of mega gargantuan proportions. [ QUOTE ] all the other top 3 teams have reinforced there squads much more than the Arse [/ QUOTE ] Arsenal have signed 4 players thus far. A striker, a RB who plays every backline position, a goal keeper, and a young defender. I have also heard rumors of two more signings, but both players will go on loan next year. Bendtner, who was on loan last season is now on Arsenals senior team. We also have 2 players, RVP and Theo, coming back from injuries. Honestly, Arsenal didn't need to add too many players. Funny how last year during the Carling Cup everyone was mentioning how much young talent we had and how much more depth we had then people think. We have tons of young players that got a lot of PT last year, so why do we need to go out and add assloads of players? Pool went out and signed a lot because they have no good young players an Rafa is a [censored] moron. As far as I can tell, Chelsea really haven't bought that much, they have more or less replaced players. Same thing with ManU if you ask me. With all this in mind, I think the possibility Arsene signs another player is likely because Reyes will be sold soon, and Freddie is likely sold as well. |

Fletcher, thank you for point out my mistake. I was hammered last night when I posted that.
So basically the top MLS players make what average Prem players make, sound about right? |

seems pretty close yeah.
IDEA I wasn't really posting around these parts this time last year so maybe you all do this already but whatever. I am wondering if there would be any interest in making a fantasy football league for the prem next season where everybody buys in for some fee ($100+ or whatever) and picks a team every week. Then at the end of the season the person with the most points takes 1st prize and next takes second etc. using a payout structure like a donkament or something. I don't mind organising this if there is interest. |

we've fired up the idea in the past, but nobody has fully put it together. Fox Soccer Channel has a good system for fantasy that is based off of a salary cap and placing players in your team on a week by week basis. So, it wouldn't be like we draft x players into our squad in a preseason selection process. individual teams can change on a week by week basis

sounds like a good place to do it.
like i said i have no problems organising it all. We'd need to sort out the escrow situation but that shouldn't be too big a hurdle |

we had a 2p2 fantasy football league which was through www.premierleague.com. Money wasn't involved, but it was fun. I wouldn't mind doing it again, but I won't do it for money.

This doesn't make any sense. He was gone for most of the season. Arsenal still finished 4th. I don't see how him leaving is a change of mega gargantuan proportions. [/ QUOTE ] Because he was a talisman of the team. Same as with Vierra. His influence was much less during his last season, but with him gone, results wise Arse have dropped off (they are not realistic contenders for no1 anymore). Henry is still one of the best players in the world, he is irreplaceable, and last season he still made a significant contribution. You are not looking at it in terms of historical context. The departure of Henry is the last action in the saga of the Invincibles that went a whole season unbeaten and won things and is the herald of the new Arse paradigm which is to struggle to hold onto their 4th place spot and not win things. Probably the beginning of the end of Wengers stewardship too. The fact that Arse came 4th is all about how weak the teams that came 5,6,7 are. Arse is looking over its shoulder, not looking ahead. |

Couldnt edit above so am making this post.
Liverpool are 9:2 to win EPL Arse are 10:1. Bookies have the pool as over twice as likely to win the EPL as the Arse. |
