Nothing like watching the us choke away a 2 goal lead in the midst of a 300+BB downswing. God hates me.

This series is over, and I'm saying that as a Sabres fan. Maybe they win Game 6 on home ice and delay it, but there's no way in hell they win 2 games in a row against a quality team like Carolina with the Rochester Americans' blueline corps. Jillson and Janik have been execrably horrible, and it's obvious the Canes are targeting them and smell blood every time these 2 career minor leaguers are on the ice. Too bad, if we didn't suffer serious injuries to 4 key players (3 top defensemen) at exactly the wrong moment, maybe this series turns out differently. Also, are any of the other Sabres fans getting sick and f#@$#@$ing tired of watching Afinogenov do his figure skating routine out there every damn shift? He seems to forget that at the end of the whole skating-around-two-defenders move, you should at least get a shot off in the general direction of the goal. Maybe that's something he can work on during the rapidly-approaching summer. Oh, and one more thing. Kalinin and Tallinder are very seriously injured and are out for the duration, that I understand. But if Numminen and Connolly are even at 50%, their asses need to be out there on the ice for Games 6 and 7. I'd rather have either of them half-healthy than any of the Amerks callups at 200%. They have the entire summer to heal, and that summer is going to start Tuesday if they don't get their butts out there and play.

Agreed, Afinogenov is a joke, not sure why they dress him at this point - put Vanek back in there.
I don't agree on Connolly & Numinen; you've got to assume they'd be out there if they could be. Doesn't look good for Connolly but I have a feeling Numminen will go Tuesday. I'm not ready to give up on the series but we've got to get better goaltending because we can't score 5 goals every game against these guys. Need 'Ottawa Miller' to show up for the next two games. |

Just throwing it out there. Does anyone consider starting Biron?
I say no. But, a friend of mine mentioned it. |

No. Some guy on the postgame show on wgr called in and thought starting Biron would be a good idea. Every time Miller has had a not so great game, he has responded in the next game with a win in this series. Biron is a good goalie, but he could be rusty. According to my count, Biron has played 0 minutes these playoffs so the situation is different than in Carolina or what Anaheim did. Miller stays in.

[/ QUOTE ] Not a chance...Millers been quite good....many of his goals this series are off rebounds and tips etc.. ...yes this game he gave in 3 blasts etc...but the OT winner was a fluke bounce which led to the wide open rebound chance... ...Buffalo absolutley blew a bunch of scoring chances at end of the 3rd and OT (Hecht, Afinogenov)....even CBSSportsline said Carolina "stole" one this game...we gotta have a monster game at home tuesday and steal the mo' back and hope for the best in G7 |

However, you are misguided - Erik Cole does so much more than just score points. He is a physical presence all over the ice, unlike Connolly. There are 10 guys with the skill and ability of Cole around the league - there are 30-40 with Connolly's particular skillset. Again, watch who gets paid more when they're UFA - it won't even be close, but that's because of Connolly's recurring concussion problems. Who knows what Tim Connolly would be without those. In 2003, Tim Connolly was probably the worst forward in the league, so let's not go into history either. We're talking about right now, where Erik Cole is a power forward with soft hands and a terrific shot, and Tim Connolly is a playmaking center with excellent stick-handling ability. |
