The Raiders signing Culpepper and getting rid of Moss on the cheap just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
I mean, if you are only getting a fraction of value out of a Moss trade, wouldn't it be better to at least see if his chemistry with Culpepper can bring back some of the glory days? |

[ QUOTE ] More draft rumors and news: --Denver has reportedly offered their #1, #2 and #3 to Detroit for the #2 pick, eying CJ. This is the second time Denver has approached Detroit regarding the pick. Al Wilson who has since been declared not physically fit was involved in the first offer, along with Bly, Foster etc. --Oakland is still waiting for a possible Trent Green to Fins deal so they can sign the released Culpepper and draft CJ at #1. If this happens Moss gets traded for very little on draft day. --NE has reportedly had discussions about trading Asante Samuel + one of their #1 picks to Washington, eying LaRon Landry. Ugh. [/ QUOTE ] I think it is #1/#2/#3 and next years #1. CJ/Javon/Brandon Marshall would be a sick 1/2/3 especially given Cutler's arm and the running game [/ QUOTE ] This trade looks bad for the Lions. Stockpiling picks is good for them, trading down to #21 is not good. I think their better off trading with Tampa or Atlanta where they can still draft Gaines Adams or Patrick Willis and add picks. Not to mention the Broncos + CJ will be very good which will put th '08 1st rounder somwhere in the 25-32 range. |

I know what your saying is getting the #23 this year isn't that great due to their being only a few true top picks but getting 4 picks for 1 from a team that is in desperate need of starters cannot be a bad thing. The team has a ton of holes of which 1 top flight player won't fix. They need help defensively almost everywhere e/c with Rogers, Bailey and Sims. They just traded away their starting CB. I can't see how this would be a horrible dea for them. Yes the picks are outside the top flight guys in the draft but I don't think Gaines Adams is going to change their team that quickly. They are more than a Gaines Adams away from being a contender. They need starters. This would give them 4 potential starters for 1. I don't see how they can go wrong here. Denver is one of the teams in the league that doesn't need a ton of Picks. They have a good young QB, some decent RBs, an aged but good O-line (probally could use help here), a few TEs, a good young WR. They got 2 really good LBs left, 2 good cbs, and a makeshift D-line which seems to have worked. |

How do people feel about Jeff Samardzija? Obviously not a 1st day pick but what abouta 7th round pick for a team, even better, a compensatory pick in the 7th? I feel like that is worth the risk of not taking a player.

Samardzija said there would be no returning to football, even though he's headed for a stint in the minor leagues, probably starting at Class A Daytona after spring training. The deal also includes a no-trade clause. |

silly question - what time does the draft actually start? it says on ESPN that coverage begins at 11, but is the first pick at 12 or 1?

I assume Samardzija will be taken late, likely by the Bears.
The situation is very similar to the Drew Henson pick by the Texans. That move basically allowed Houston to turn a 6th into a 3rd. I have to imagine that someone is going to be willing to gamble on the possibility that he fails as a pitcher, especially considering the wide range of arm injuries that could derail his chances as a pitcher but wouldn't effect his abilities as a WR. |
