What else could shane have done? You've got a family to protect you are knee deep in [censored]--I honestly think they led up to him Lem as if it were the invevitable conclusion of decisions they made as a team a long time ago starting with Terry. What a fantastic episode. I am very happy this wasn't the last season.
Only thing is we all have to know at this point that Vic will be called to task for his sins at some point. That's one of the things that makes this show so disturbing and great at the same time. It's like having a drink with someone you know is headed to the electric chair the next day. |

Any ideas on how Season 6 will start? How will Dutch handle having to take Claudette's orders? Will Dutch find clues to Lem's murderer? Will Tevon return? How about Acevado's rape(if that's what you want to call it)? Money train investigation? What will Vic's reaction be when he discovers the truth about Shane killing Lem? I can see Shane wearing bright orange and being Mitchell's bitch once again. Next season will have a "good" ending according to the pattern. Season 2 had a good ending,3 bad, etc.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, it seems that if Shane was considering sacrificing Lem's life, then he would have been happy sending Lem to prison with the initial small-charges deal that got Kavanaugh off the case. But Vic figured out Mitchell would kill Lem in prison, so he made Lem hide -- and once Lem was on the run, that ruined the deal and Kavanaugh was back on the Strike Team's ass. See, if Shane wasn't worried about Lem dying in prison, he should have fought harder to get Lem to go along with the original deal, and argued against Lem going on the run. Argh, it's all just so complicated and tragic and awesome. |

Shane was fine with Lem until he dropped the money train bombshell to Acevada and Kavanaugh. The rest of the strike team didn't know what he told them and Acevada laid it on pretty thick with Vic.

(After episode 11 airs this Tuesday, The Shield takes a lengthy break and will wrap up its season at year's end or in early 2007.) At the time of the interview, he didn't know how his character would end up, but he did expect Kavanaugh would have a resolution." link |

The first few episodes of Heist better be killer, after The Shield's closing, or the new show's gonna get reamed.

One thing that I don't understand:
They should have had Lem in Mexico before his court date. Not wait until after he already missed it when there was all sorts of heat on him. Vic comes off as really smart guy, and I don't see why he wouldn't have Lem down in Mexico before the cops started to look for him. Also, I think Lem bears a fair amount of responsibility for his own death. With the stakes that high, he really should have just layed low and stuck with the plan. Getting the cops on trail by going to investigate that crying kid, then trying to cut a deal to turn himself in through that lawyer was very stupid. He put everyone else at risk. |

[/ QUOTE ] There was plenty of time to get him out of the country between the time they realized he wouldn't survive in jail and the time he had to show up in court. What is it, a 2 hour drive from LA to the border? Just get him beyond the reach of the cops first, then worry about getting him set up with money and a place to live later. |
