Take a deep breath. Try to imagine the other person's point of view.

[ QUOTE ] I have been brought up in a culture that considers putting the seat back rather rude [/ QUOTE ] what culture is that? why do the seatbacks in that culture recline? [/ QUOTE ] British culture. Unfortunately our seatbacks recline since the planes are American models, I'm guessing most people disagreeing with me here are American? Just brought this up with a couple of my flatmates to make sure I haven't gone insane, they also said it was an extremely rude thing to do, but whatever. |

i'm american and when i fly coach i don't put my seat back unless there is noone behind me. i'm not really invested in the emotional part of this debate and don't really care if other peole choose to recline or not.

i think its wrong to recline as well. but if the person in front of you does you are forced to as also. and i also take the full share of my space in the seat and no fat person or hog is going to encroach on it.

Driving: anything that indicates you are courteous to other cars around you. This includes using your turn signals. Not driving 60 in the left lane. Not using your phone/putting on makeup/eating a plate of rice and beans (I've seen it).
Office Workplace: Don't be a gossip. Only other gossips like you, and everyone else hates you. Don't bring food from home that smells awful. Don't keep your dishes in the kitchen sink for days. Try to keep the place relatively clean! If it looks like I'm eating lunch, then I probably am. I don't appreciate non-emergency questions when I'm on my lunch. Don't be loud. At the movies, at a restaurant, waiting at the dentist's, in a library, at Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. Is it me, or is everyone's noise level just unnecessarily louder than it should be? |

[ QUOTE ]
Be tolerant of your fellow human beings. The next time someone does something that bothers you, politely address it with them before getting all passive-aggressive with them. I think you'd be surprised how accommodating people can be to reasonable requests. [/ QUOTE ] By far the best. Tons of people do inconsiderate things mentioned in this thread: cell phones in theatres, blocking stairways, driving slow in the left lane, and so on. A lot of people who take the time to be considerate and thoughtful about these little things turn into complete jerks when other people are unaware of how inconsiderate they are. besides a handful, the unaware/forgetful are good people. Just remember not everyone is enlightened as you. |

Don't stick your used gum anywhere you feel like it. Along the same lines don't litter. Maintain a minimum standard of personal hygiene for the sake of people around you.
