Jman,
Phil Ivey plays on TV and has won tournaments. Please explain how you are +EV vs him?

Stop loss strategy's are only good if you play worse when losing. There's no other benefit to them EV-wise.

Yes, I think I'm +EV vs. Ivey.

Does Ivey ever tilt? Seems he often quits when he loses a buy-in to an outdraw, to preclude the possibility of tilt before it happens. In comparison to Benyamine and Gus he doesn't play super-long sessions, though he will stay for the kill when he's winning big. And he always buys in short, quits when down a few, so doesn't risk much of his own money. He seems in every way the nightmare opponent.

Kaibuxxe had some insightful comments on playing Ivey HU, mind you it was PLO.

I started out winning, as I usually do against Phil because he doesnīt seem to care too much.

This time, though, he showed why he is world class and started playing great after that, and I really enjoyed our match.

We played some massive pots, each hand usually went to the river since we both donīt like to give up. The average pot size in the match was between 15k and 20k, so we really played very fast.

I think I got a little unlucky in the beginning, having strong 2nd best hands a couple of times, but was definitely outplayed in the end. I could have saved 100kish there if I had quit him sooner, but somehow wasnīt willing to give up.

I eventually quit him after he beat me for about 300k, mainly because I was still up a little for the night and didnīt want to get stuck and then play forever to get even.

Iīm very confident in my HU game at the moment, so recently I wasnīt the one quitting sessions, but Iīm happy I pulled the trigger against Ivey, who I basically have to give props to for playing really well in our long, interesting and very entertaining battle.

Iīm sure weīll match again, I hope he goes back to his "I donīt care for online poker"- mood, otherwise I will really need to step up, play my best and hope.

Aren't they also good if your opponents play better when you are losing?

Pudge you should spend more time reading 2+2 instead of posting 11,000 times.

The first time and not the last time I remember hearing Phil Ivey's name was in an article where Phil Helmuth said he taking seven card stud leasons from Ivey. Ivey may not have even been 21 and you were still in grade school.

Even the huge ego like Hellmuth could recognize a real player. He has been rolling the biggest cash games in the world ever since.
