[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] go to college, get a degree, make money on a consistent basis, that is the way to go [/ QUOTE ] Yeah aba or cts should def. go to school for 4 years to get a job that might pay $50k/year. [/ QUOTE ] Not many people make much more then that at their first job out of college. If you do then you are one of the lucky ones. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, Obv. bumped a bit because you get raises or whatever, but a lot of 1/2nl players are making as much as presidents of companies [/ QUOTE ] |

[/ QUOTE ] Most attending physicians will make at least 250K or so, surgeons can make 500K. That comes out to 120 and 240/hr respectively. And the salary is guaranteed, not like in poker. |

The thing with college--as opposed to a trade--is that you're generally taking a huge financial risk in exchange for societal status and an "education" that is often a political indoctrination. I like Townsend in general.

Like others said, it depends on the person and the situation. If you hate college and/or are paying for it yourself, then drop out. If you have a scholarship or someone else is footing the bill, switch to an easy major and just get the piece of paper. Also, there's no reason why a pro couldn't pay professors from a local college $30-40/hr for private lessons. This you you would learn more and it would be cheaper than enrolling (for most). Dropping out doesn't mean you have to be ignorant for the rest of your life.

As someone currently at college, on a full time degree course; you have tonnes of free time!
Honestly it's like being unemployed. |

college is fun. Poker is not. Poker will always be there. College is not as fun when you're 25 and everyone else is 18-22 [/ QUOTE ] I'm 27 and back in college for the 2nd time, same school. The few friends I had left who were still in town all moved far away this summer. Its seriously almost depressing |

Anyone considering dropping out of college to play fulltime should be killing their game and be making at least 75k+ per year.
If that's you and you can see yourself playing poker fulltime and think it would make you happy then do it! There's nothing wrong with that, and I think that's what Brian was talking about. There's no reason for these ppl to stay in school if that's not where they want to be, when they can be doing something they love and making more than 75% of the population doing it. |
