I go back and forth on HUD's. I really like having the stats for just VPIP and PFR. Those numbers give me an automatic (sometimes very large) range of hands that villain is playing. I found that having those numbers frees me from having to make notes on preflop tendancies, letting me focus my (sometimes very limited) note space on postflop play. I guess that puts me somewhere in between you two. That makes sense - I play an intermediate number of tables: 3.

As an aside, I've been on these boards pretty actively, but I must have missed where/when the term Presto was coined and what it means. Now that I've seen it a few times, I'm wondering. Anyone got a link or an explanation to help out this "noob?"

Am I the only one who read the OP and rushed off to The Zoo to try to figure out how I possibly could've missed the fact that there was a PokerNow bonus going on?

Thanks for the post man. I have a mac and no Poker Tracker so notes have been the only way that i have maintained my sense of reads.

I think that taking extensive notes is probably the best possible thing a player can do when it is time to translate over to live games because that is how we are going to think and we will see many fewer hands after the showdown so we will have to consider the opponents tendencies from their actions on the various streets, occaisionally getting a chance to see what they are showing down.

I use PAHud everytime, but I regularly take notes on the lines mentioned by OP. At times I find them very useful, like tendencies of players to call AK UI on river, bluffing missed AKs, bluff-raises, when players slowplay every set till river, etc.

I like seeing this thread, I have been single tabling for a long time now and while using PAHud I have no problems using reads on players and tables to optimize my return.

One of the first things I do is check the other tables to see which opponents are multitabling and right away I know I can steal from most of them more frequently because I know they aren't paying as close attention as they should be.

I also go back after I have 500 hands on a person and write down notes for them as well.

In 6 max its imperative to to not only watch for hands they play but also for betting patterns.

I generally start with the person to my left, move over one and then start monitoring the one to my right.

I find it helps a lot and is probably one of the main reasons why I can't for the life of me get my stats down to 18/12 or so...the opportunities to play more just seem too juicy to pass up.
