except the fact that you are playing 2/3rds of the hands you are dealt suggests that it isn't optimal.

Yes... so, I need perhaps to find something else to focus my attention on. Not necessarily more tables. 2+2, maybe.

It is good that you posted this because you can see from your numbers now that you are not playing well. You say that you tilt out and that is why you lose, but really the reason why you lose is you do not play well. There is nothing to feel bad about about not playing well, that is counter-productive. It is how it is. But you can change it. But if you are going to continue to play, you might as well use this thread post as a starting point to starting to play well.
You play far too many hands. Is that the reason why you chose omaha? It is a game where if you want to play tons of hands you can find reasons to play them. In a way, it is a very bad game for you because it is hard to find discipline when so many hands look appealing. Why do you play so many hands? You are bored, you said. So the way to get better at poker is for you to learn how to work on your discipline. If you have no discipline, it doesn't matter how much poker theory and strategy you know. You can theoretically be the best player in the world, but if when the time comes to make a decision, you make incorrect decisions due to lack of discipline, it is impossible to win over the long term. There is a quote from an old chess grandmaster: "It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well." The only way to play well is to have discipline. So how to cultivate discipline in yourself for PLO? You can do it in a few ways. It would be good to sit down and write down a list of hands you will play and hands you will not play in the different positions. It will take a little while, but once you write the list, it will be easier for you to notice when you are violating the list, since it is there in front of you. If you violate the list, you stop playing for an hour immediately since you are not playing well and have lost your discipline. You can cultivate discipline by forcing yourself to get up after a set amount of time. Only let yourself play for one hour at a time. When the hour is up, an alarm goes off and you must quit and do something else even if you are playing well and the game is good and everything is going your way and you have a million of other reasons why not to quit. You can make that the goal of your session, to quit. Think of it like you are in training. You are training yourself to have discipline. Buy into the smallest stakes you can and quit after an hour. Then do it again. Train yourself to be able to get up at any time. If you are playing and take a bad beat, quit. If you make a face or go "damn!" or bang your mouse or are annoyed or start tapping your foot impatiently, quit. You can learn discipline by waiting for the crossing sign to blink walk before walking, even if the street is deserted. You can learn discipline by forcing yourself to walk at your normal pace through the rain, rather than rush. You can learn it by remembering to not let doors slam. You can learn it from quitting smoking or drinking or whatever vice you have. You can learn it by waiting for people to finish speaking before talking. It is everywhere. At any rate, however you can learn it, learn it. It won't matter if you know which pokertracker numbers are the right ones if you cannot make yourself do it. |

can we please let this thread die [/ QUOTE ] Wow, pf and i agree on something. I was going to suggest luckyjim not post on here again until he gets to 10,000 hands but thought perhaps it would be a little rude. |
