He wasn't 100% drug free. Like Aaron, Bonds has admitted to using amphetamines.
/edit although Bonds probably did it for a much shorter time period because he got busted for it. |

People who want to insist Bonds never used steroids, or that there has to be respect given to the fact that he hasn't "admitted" use, are really pathetic. Pretty weak if you're still living in the fantasy world in which barry is all natural, perhaps these are the same peoplee who made up the OJ jury.
If you think Barry is clean, you're an idiot. If you think that measuring Hank Aaron's stats from three or four cherry picked seasons in order to somehow justify what Barry has done, you're an even bigger idiot. Really not much more to it. |

I read I Had A Hammer many times, admittedly when I was a kid, I don't remember one sentence about amphetamines. Someone post a link or copy and paste pls.

[/ QUOTE ] They aren't cherrypicked seasons though They are specifically to show that he had a power surge after 35. |

I just read the all amazing half sentence from I Had A Hammer which details Hank Aarons' Bonds-like extensive use of illegal performance enhacing substances. If this is what Bonds supporters are using to help their cause, they'd have a better chance campaigning for Vick to be Animal Rights Activist of the Year. Pretty weak and pathetic.
Aaron had a minor power surge after 35 due to the Brave's move to Atlanta and the lowering of the pitchers mound. If you feel this is comparable to someone's head growing three sizes and jacking 73 bombs, more power to you. BottomSet, solid reponse, breathtakingly brilliant analysis such as "lol" are what make this forum great. |

I don't like Bonds because he's a communist and eats babies. Isn't that good enough?

[ QUOTE ] Then, something happened between 1968 and 1969. Hank turned 35, and as he admitted in his own autobiography, this was when he first used illegal drugs in hopes of assisting his performance. [/ QUOTE ] What about the lowered the pitcher's mound that same offseason? How does that play into things? [/ QUOTE ] in 1968 there were 891 HR's in 54913 AB's, or 1 HR / 62 AB. in 1969 there were 1470 HR's in 65751 AB's, or 1/45. This fell further to 1/39 in 1970. Hank clearly wasn't the only one who experienced a dramatic increase in his home run rate post 1968, on the road, away, whatever. |
