Movie theater screens aren't one fixed size. That's why there are curtains on the wall, to hide the part of the screen that the movie isn't showing on.

Yes if you hardcode your TV for 4:3 it will fix the problem, but the issue is TNTHD. They need to letterbox their non-HD content like every other station does, not stretch it. Or perhaps they should just stop showing converted 2.35:1 or 16:9 movies in 4:3 pan-and-scan mode stretched to 16:9 on their HD channel. If you get TNTHD check it out. It's a really poor HD channel imo. [/ QUOTE ] I get TNTHD and it is letterboxed like every otherr HD channel showing non-HD shows. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't really know all the technical mumbo jumbo, but there are definitely a bunch of programs on TNTHD that don't look right. It looks just like it does when I turn on a 4:3 SD channel and stretch the picture. They didn't upconvert the video for the HD channel, they just stretched it out. |

[ QUOTE ] what movie is this BTW? Is it good? [/ QUOTE ] The Host, and no. [/ QUOTE ] I'm sorry but I have to know why an androgynous person would be sitting on a floor of a gymnasium, surrounded by photographers and others sitting, crying about some woman parking her car in some place that apparently has caused great hardship. I'm trying to come up with some plausible scenario for this in my mind, and failing miserably. |

There was some kind of wierd memorial service inside a gymnasium and the main characters are the family of a girl who was kidnapped by the creature and presumed dead. The car line is just some police officer talking to a lady while the main characters are bawling and literally rolling around on the floor. |

[ QUOTE ]
as other posters have mentioned, it's only HD if it was shot in HD. otherwise they're just sticking old crap on an HD channel. [/ QUOTE ] This is inaccurate at best. HD broadcasts have a higher bandwidth than normal TV broadcasts. Furthermore, nothing has ever been shot at TV quality. Therefore, provided everything is set up correctly on the broadcaster's side and they're using good copies, you will see significantly improved picture quality, even if it's not up to HD quality. |
