Do you mean that the movie was playing and, based on what was showing, they couldn't identify it?

Or was it more like you saying, "Cool, The Warriors is on" and them going "Huh, never heard of it"?

I saw it during its original run in theatres at least 20 times. I have it on DVD and I've watched it another 20-30.

During its original run, extra security was added at certain showings in NYC because gangs were just going off in the theatre during the movie.

Best scene for me: When Ajax says, "I'm gonna shove that bat up your arse and turn you into a popcicle.", right before he beats the crap out of the baseball wimps.

It was showing on the TVs and after numerous scenes with different gangs, neither had any idea what the movie was. When I told them, I think one of them had heard of the movie.

I put the movie poster up on the wall next to the beer pong table at my old house. There were only a few people who ever mentioned knowing the movie, and most of the people I asked had never heard of it.

I haven't seen the recent re-release "director's cut." Can anyone comment? I heard that the cue-card gang intro's took away some of the tension.
