this sounds absolutely insane.
Moving to Panama City in a few days and will be playing at the nearby place in a town called Ebro which I assume will have similarly donktacular action. I haven't seen anyone mention they are in that area or have played there. Maybe I will be the only 2+2'er type player in the whole room (not that it makes much of a difference). Can't wait to get down there. The timing of my move to Florida couldn't be better. Sounds like Fla might be the hot-bet for perhaps the best poker in the country right now. Wow. Also, completely agree with TT that a perma-thread for Florida poker is a dumb idea. Why would we need one? Just post your Florida poker stuff in this thread, or if there's a completely different topic worthy of a new thread then do that? |

If I played in that game I'd definitely want something done about it. |

JULY 1, 2007 - THE POKER ROOM - JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - It was packed. There were double the normal number of players with waits up to 1 hour long for the NL tables. It was crazy at first as they tried to figure everything out, but things began to flow a little smoother within a few hours.
I knew they were going to run out of $5 chips, and they did. They begged people at the NL and $5 tables to color up to the $25 chips, and this seemed to fix the problem. The games were loose as expected, and I saw people win and lose over $1,000. (Maybe I shouldn't have said that... some anti-gambling group is going to find that statement and use it against us). I played NL Hold'Em the whole time. The Poker Room decided to spread $1/$2, $2/$2, $2/$4, and $5/$5 limit games as well as a $2/$2 NL game. The NL game has a minimum rake of $2 and a maximum rake of $5. As expected, the rake is almost always $5, but averages about 5%. I took down the largest pot I saw ($700), but heard rumors of larger pots. It took about 6 hours for the skilled players to overcome swings and win money, and the bad players to overcome good swings and lose all their money (in the NL game). At the end of the night, the only two good players I saw at my table (me and the guy to my left) ended up with all the chips (excluding those who left before closing time). I would predict that the games will stay loose and very profitable for only a short time. It seems like the poor players will be loosing their money very fast. I would estimate maybe 2-3 weeks of this really good action before things get a little tough. Looks like I'll be sick for a little while and have to miss some work (anybody know of a doctor I can get a doctor's note from?). Even though Josh (the director of operations) and others at The Poker Room are working on hiring new dealers, chip runners, and security, they are way behind. The dealers were constantly running out of chips and sometimes people would have to sit out and walk to the cage to get more chips because the dealers didn't have any. They stocked the dealer trays with the same $1 denominations they had used for the $1/$2 limit games. Not too smart at a $5/$5 table. Also, the cage seemed to have a little trouble counting out cash for cash-outs. All those different colors get a little confusing unless they are nicely stacked in even numbers. 3 green, 47 red, and 18 white equal much dollars??? One final note. I heard that the tourneys, including sit'n'gos are going as high as $250 buy-ins and they are thinking about doing $500 buy-ins. Still the most common were the $65 and $100 buy-in tourneys. I hope you enjoyed this article. Feel free to respond with your thoughts. Admin: Sorry about the post in so many threads... I couldn't find the correct thread... feel free to delete the other posts in the other threads. |

I thought all games had $100 cap on the buy in? [/ QUOTE ] The lawyers in Florida are about to get rich... it was one very poorly written law. The exact wording says, "The maximum required buy-in can not exceed $100." In other words... the minimum buy-in can not exceed $100. |

Section IV #3 of HB 1377 on page 5 http://www.flsenate.gov/data/session...h1377f.PBC.pdf "....allows the game of no bet limit Texas Holdem with a maximum allowed buy-in of $100" I was told this is what they fall back on. |

Played the 1-2 $100 max buy in at gulfstream horse track today. gonna check out Hard rock Tommorrow.
I ran the first $100 up to $380 then this hand came up. Raise from UTG to $13, 5 callers, im in BB with QQ and call. flop Q66, sb checks, i lead for $20, 3 callers, turn 9, i check first and guy bets $20(lol)from MP, lady folds and other guy shoves like $500 from Button, i agonize over it and push, other guy calls for about $160, MP has 6-2 off and button has AA, Ace on river = busto. rebuy for another $100 and run that up to about $260 and this hand busts me. i have 55 in the SB, MP raises to $12 (standard raise all night), like 5 callers, flop 5-7-2 rainbow, checked to c/o who bets $24, i call and and 3 call behind me as usual, turn 7, i lead for $50, folded to C/O who shoves for about $200, i call and he tables AA, river A. so i hit the door to come home and blaze. I think this will be Free monies for all till most loose there ass and give up. ride the wave |

I played less than 3 hours tonite at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. They added a tournament room upstairs that apparantly hosted 390 players for a NLHE tourney with a $16K first. Couldn't tell you the buy in or the rake.
I played about two hours of straight $5 O8. 6 handed almost the entire time and 4-6 to a flop almost always. I scooped once, won a high and quartered a low to end up +$12. |
