Man I always heard Newhizzle was a good guy, but he is going down a terrible path, i feel bad for him. He's the classic degenerate who made a lot of money and will lose it all that I pity.

Newhouse, quit living the high life and get back to reality. Stop throwing away all your money and get your shtt together.

[/ QUOTE ]

Whatever, not really...he's very smart and talented, but also very young...and being a degenerate gambler has a little to do with maturity. He'll either outgrow the gambling bug or be haunted by it forever, but it's a little early for this type of hysterical reaction.

It may sound corny, but when I was ~21 there were few, if any, opportunities to live the "high life," so it's hard for me to consider the case of someone in his early twenties overindulging a Major Tragedy.

Newhizzle needs to stop backing girls unless they give up the buttsecks.

Also I think El D secretly owns a casino.

demon,

"I wonder how much the comps are worth after u dump 10k in an hour"

Prior to a couple of weeks ago where I won (YAHOO!!!!!), my last few Vegas trips had me losing $3k to 8k per trip mainly at blackjack but with some craps and roulette as well (prob 4-5k avg loss per trip) and all my expenses were comped, so I figure losing at 10k/hour, you'd pretty much be printing money in terms of comps. As long as you do it consistently, that is - sitting down for one hour of gambling and losing 10k doesn't do much of anything for you in terms of comps.

I knew a real estate developer who routinely lost $50-100k on weekend trips and he basically got unlimited everything at Bellagio - dinner for as many of his friends at whatever restaurant he wanted, as many bottles of Cristal as he wanted, whatever wine he wanted, etc. That stuff would have cost him a fortune if it weren't for his savvy pit losses to get him those comps.

[/ QUOTE ]

El D. realistically, what % about do you think people get in comps for their pit losses?

Breaking it down to like <$50k and >$50k in losses.

for people that play optimal and use their comps well, i'm curious how -ev the games end up being when you add in the value of vip treatment.

sorry about the hijack, this can be a new thread if it warrants it

Jeff,

"El D. realistically, what % about do you think people get in comps for their pit losses?"

Last time I looked into this (a few years ago), casinos were comping back between 20-40% of your expected loss based on the total amount of bets you make (based on avg bet x time played). Say you're betting $100/hand at a game dealing 100 hands/hour with a house edge of 2%. The casino is making on average $200/hour from you there and will comp you $40-80/hr, the nicer the casino the lower the rate. I know casinos still use this process, not sure if the comp rates are still the same, though.

Of course, betting $100/hand, you could easily be +/- a few thousand in an hour. For the most part, whether you win or lose is irrelevant to comps. There's one exception to that. If you lose a ton of money in a very short time such that you don't really accumulate any comp points and bitch to your host about what a POS unlucky sh--hole the casino is, the casino will often comp you something like 10% of your loss. Also, if you gamble very high stakes, casinos will sometimes actually rebate some of your losses. But we're talking super high stakes there.
