Honest to God, I just spent ten minutes trying to figure out a female singer-songwriter who is both beautiful and talented.

I came up with the following, whom I would put ahead of Regina Spektor in both categories:

Alicia Keys
Michelle Branch
Amy Lee (Evanescence)
Vanessa Carlton

and for good measure...
Susannah Hoffs


The problem with Regina Spektor is twofold: 1)She is not especially musically talented. That poppy nonsense-word thing she does, while cute to fourteen-year-old girls, is done already and better, most notably by Jewel(who is also prettier), and 2)She is Russian, and for lack of a better description, looks exactly like people stereotype Russians to look like. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with Russians, but when I see her, I think Cold War, not pop star. Now...we all have our aesthetic limitations, but those can be overcome if your music is overwhelmingly good(see Amos, Tori; McLachlan, Sarah; Joplin, Janis). However, that Fidelity song of hers is one of the most cloyingly irritating songs of the last ten years...and the rest of what I've heard of hers is little better. I dunno...that's just my opinion about her.
