Why are people so dumb. Man vs Wild is entertaining but little more than that. The guy tried to get a wild horse to ride out in one of the shows. I mean wtf, anyone who thought this would be a good idea in a survival situation is an idiot. Hes putting on a show.

[/ QUOTE ]

whats so dumb about it? he spent hours trying to get the horse to let him mount and when he couldnt he explained that he would have needed to spend at least an extra day getting friendly with it if he wanted to ride........i think thats good information, if the time it takes to walk out > 2 days stay there and make friends with the horse otherwise hoof it yourself

lol, trying to ride that horse was one of the greatest moments in tv history. I was laughing my ass off when he crept up on it and tried to jump on its back.

Survivorman is only entertaining because Les basically fails to do anything productive and ends the show no better off than where he started and everyone laughs at his incompetence.

Man vs. Wild may not be as "authentic", but at least Bear COULD actually survive for >3 days if he actually had to

[/ QUOTE ]

Why would you expect someone alone in the wilderness for 7 days to come out better off than when he started?

Also, Les' show is 7 days long so he already does survive for longer than 3 days.

[ QUOTE ]
if you guys think survivorman doesnt have people ready to come in and save his ass if his camping trip goes bad you're [censored] dumb sry.

[/ QUOTE ]

He has a radio which is usually not working. There is no one within ~ 1 mile from where he is. Anyone who compares the authenticity of Survivorman to Man vs. Wild is [censored] dumb.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is that Man vs. Wild offers TERRIBLE and in many times dangerous survival techniques. These two shows should not even be compared; they are nothing alike.

[/ QUOTE ]yea, and his help has no way of traversing a mile to get to him, that's pretty stupid logic sorry, both are entertainment and in either case if they got in trouble they would be able to get out so in that way neither are "authentic".

as for which is the better show i prefer man vs wild. he doesn't simply stay in one place, he actively attempts to escape the dangerous situation and get back to civilization. he also is more badass and it's not close, he was in SAS for christ sake.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say that they couldn't save his life if he needed it, what I meant is that they weren't a constant influence on his actions. I actually really like Man vs. Wild, but a lot of it is so stupid. If you get lost in the woods you should NOT be running around trying to get out as fast as possible. This is how like 90% of lost hikers die. It is entertaining sure, but it is not the same type of show as Survivorman.

[/ QUOTE ]well it comes down to they have different goals, survivorman is trying to stay alive in the wilderness whereas bear is trying to survive and get back to civilization

He probably does, but his show is clearly not about trying to educate people on proper survival techniques.
