i got the feeling he was copying sklanskys style of writing.

Just....WOW.

I read it three times, and never came close to that conclusion.

He talks about pot odds and implied odds which is what many other authors discuss in there books due to its importance.

does anyone agree with angels way to play AK preflop. i believe he thinks in most cases you should limp in with AK. because if you dont hit an A or K on the flop you just muck it.

[/ QUOTE ]
There may be some merit to it, in my experience. If the game is so loose that your pre-flop raise will be called by most of the players, then it may be more profitable to wait for an ace to fall and stack someone with AJ. He won't see you coming 9 times out of 10. You're making a mistake pre-flop, obviously, but in deep stacked NL that's not the end of the world.

The problem with raising AK pre-flop is that you won't be able to c-bet if you don't hit, since one of the family members in the pot will hit something. Another problem is that the pot will be too large for your hand, even if you do flop TPTK. You may be in a reverse implied odds situation.

Hi Stingray:

I'm just curious since I haven't read this book but does he talk about stack sizes in conjunction with what strategy he uses for playing a hand like ace-king?

best wishes,
mason

I think deception is more important in low limit against bad players than people realize, because people make standard reads. This is Largay's way of mixing it up, but it shouldn't be treated as Gospel.

I have heard of this approach to AK for tighter online nolimit games. The problem is that TPTK is not the nuts, and when the flop is AT7 and you get action, how do you know it is from AJ or AQ and not AT, TT or 77.

If you are going to limp AK in early position of a live 2/5 NL game, it seems to me that you want to sometimes limpreraise and sometimes limp/call, depending on the situation.

I think he says that for early position only, if he has position, or there a few limpers in front, he raises.

There are so many mistakes in quizzes.Other than that what i read so far is very good.Just annoying that he didn't go through the quizzes in order to find a very simple mistakes.
