I do wonder what sort of demographic is voting for Melinda.

[/ QUOTE ]
People who enjoy good musicians. She really is better than everyone else vocally, AINEC. That "demo" spans just about every age group (above preteen). I think your sample of contacts isn't broad enough. I like Blake for his musicianship and performance style, but he's not half the singer that Melinda is.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're probably right. But the only people I talk to are girls who watch the show for fun (while I am busy taking notes like a degenerate). I have yet to hear any casual fan of the show say anything but "it sucks that Melinda is so much better than everyone. She's taking the fun out of it. She's a ringer" etc etc. Obv. they want Blake to win because they think he's hot, but that's as legit a reason as any.

I am seriously starting to question Melinda pulling a Taylor and being the fav wire to wire. I still expect her to make the finals, but I wouldn't be surprised if at that point she was even money or even a dog against professor beatbox.

The X-factor is going to be what remaining contestant will get the votes from the suports of the contestants that don't make the final 3.

If Lakisha, Melinda, or Jordin get booted, do their supports cast votes whomever remains bwtween those three and follow along demo lines? Or, do they go to Sanjaya via "vote for the worst"? Or do the supports just stop voting? I can't see Blake picking up these votes, but who knows.

Blake could very well pick up Chris and Phil voters.

Of course, the big wild card is Sanjaya. Assuming he doesn't make the final 3, where will his voters throw their support?

In this regard, Blake's and Sanjaya's voters are the wildcard should either of those two not make it to the final three.

IMO, if Sanjaya goes before the top 3, at least 50% of his voters stop voting. Otherwise, it's pretty random for who Sanjaya supporters vote for. His supporters seem to span across a variety of demographics. Obviously most of these people either don't care about good singing or don't "know" good singing.

I don't believe for a second that Fox would let Sanjaya win. If it comes to that, I believe there will be some "manipulation of the votes" as they say.

Fox won't need to manipulate anything. Even if it comes down to the final 2, there's no way over 50% of America votes for Sanjaya. He would be a huge dog against any of the front runners.

QFT. I think he leveled all of us. Have any of you seen this:

From the beginning, I've felt that Sanjaya has a very nice voice, but it's not powerful enough to overcome the loud band and other acoustic considerations of AI-type live performances.

By picking songs suited for his voice, he could really surprise us. FWIW, I thought the judges were unfairly harsh on him last night. Blake and Chris were far more atrocious and the judges were more subdued in their criticisms. It's annoying that the judges have an agenda and are visibly perturbed that America isn't cooperating with it.

I still think his first televised audition was one of the highlights of the audition round, but what do I know... my favs were Castro, Antonella, Sundance, Sligh...

I totally agree. I was really surprised how bad he sucked as the top 24 went on, and especially once he got to the top 12. I really think it was more of a confidence thing and he just got nervous out there and his singing was soft and timid. The last few weeks were actually a lot better (especially the 2 before this one) although he was still out of his league (of course, so is Chris R.)
