Nice post Krishan,

This is why the best thing anyone can do is strive to make the best possible desicion at every opportunity. Your true win rate at poker is nothing more than a number based on the aggregate of all the decisions you make while playing. You can make a bad decision that wins you a lot of money, or a great decision that costs you a lot of money. A truly great player does not judge himself from the actual result. He only cares whether he made the best possible decision. And the decisions aren't just limited to acting on a hand. Which table(s) to sit at (probably the most important), and whether you are in a mental state where you should be playing are key decisions also. The quality of each poker decision you make should be 100% of your focus, and optimizing each decision is what will maximize your expected earn.

How do you not look at your account balance when buying into tables?

Nothing like a little data to address an argument. Thanks!

Are you going to cross post this in the mid-high limit forum? Certainly would be of interest.

lol... is that not how you spell it? Every other Brighton I've ever met (not many) spell it that way. Hmmm....

And yes, I do have undying love for the man, for reasons like his posts like this.

Well, day one of the challenge is over. 969 hands and I'm kinda thankful that I don't know how badly I ran, because a lot of the hands I played today felt genuinely excruciating.

I am going to ask a dumb question.

I don't multi table or play long sessions. I'm always very aware of how I'm doing. I manage the emotional aspect of poker in my own way.

For you guys who are 4+ tabling and playing 4 hour sessions, are you really so unaware of your results without checking that you can do this and remove any knowledge of how you're doing? Or is there something I'm not getting?

I've got about 750 in so far, and I'm hoping to put another 2-5 hours in tonight. It was rough a few times, I'm happy I can't look. I really need to get some confidence in my game, this should help.
