Looks like it's business as usual for England after the amazingly uncharacteristic victories against Australia. Batting collapses, an inability to take wickets, same old story. I'm really not sure if Monty's right for the 1-day game, but then who else is there?
The match did affirm the talk about NZ, they're a dangerous side who on the right day can beat anyone. |

[/ QUOTE ] Ya we won against someone I think in our 1st match. [/ QUOTE ] Canada rather handily beat Test-playing nation Bangladesh in the 2003 World Cup, and a Canadian batter (an Aussie-born Canadian named John Davison) briefly held the World Cup record for the fastest World Cup century scored in their match against the West Indies, which the Canadians lost. Bangladesh, since then, is not quite the joke that they once were. They've just taken an important early wicket (that of Virender Sehwag) on the first ball of the 2nd over against India, and it's a measure of how far the Bangladeshis have come that people are saying that it's not impossible that they could beat India in this game if they get a few good bounces. Four years ago, that would've been a stretch at best. Bangladesh has about 3 or 4 Test-class players in their side, which is 2 or 3 more than they had in the last World Cup. They also beat 2-time defending World Champion Australia in a one-day match semi-recently. P.S. - As an aside, India in this game has made history by having a side containing 3 batsmen who have scored 10,000 runs in One Day Internationals....Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. Update: India 13 for 1 in the 4th over. --Scott |

India now 23 for 2 in the 7th over. Uthappa misdrove and edged a full-length Mortaza delivery to the Bangladeshi fielder at point. If the Bangladeshis can get one more wicket before the fielding restrictions are out of play, they've got a heck of a chance to get India out of there for an attackable total. Good match so far.
Tendulkar and Ganguly are the current Indian batsmen, though, with Dravid coming in if either of them fall. These are some important overs coming up for the Bangladeshi bowlers. --Scott |

ZOMG, WTF is going on with Pakistan-Ireland?! OK, I realise that probably no-one here cares that much, but I'm ethnically Pakistani and need to rant, 72-6, what the hell?!!

you've lost 8 now.
Ireland are on a roll. Though you'll probably bowl them out for 3 or something when it's their turn to bat. |

[/ QUOTE ] Looks like you guys will be taking an early exit! Bray for Ireland scored 115 NO in the first match, so this is not going to be an easy total to defend. |

This could be a great day for England - if Bangladesh and Ireland make it through to the next round then there are effectively 6 teams playing for 4 semi-final places (no offence).

[/ QUOTE ] I wonder what sort of odds you could have got on that at the start of the tournament, or even the odds for either one of those teams making it through. |
