Over Halloween I had cherry vodka and sprite zero... sort of a rookie drinker's drink, but very good. [/ QUOTE ] Vodka and sprite zero rules. Great summer drink. Get a nice big cup about half full of ice, toss in half of a lemmon or lime, finish with vodka and sprite zero. Very refreshing. Anyone else like a simple Tom Collins? Or is it too sweet for most? |

Manhattans are awesome, but they are definitely a three-ingredient drink. The bitters add an important dimension.
Most importantly, though, Manhattans are supposed to be made with Rye, not Bourbon. Try one with a good quality rye, and you'll be blown away by the difference. |

[/ QUOTE ] Rye is the reason mixed drinks were invented..heh personaly I like bourbon more, w/o bitters, I dont know why. |

Tootsie Roll:
Spiced Rum and Root Beer. Tastes exactly like a tootsie roll. Found this one when I ran out of coke one night. I was pleasantly surprised to get that taste. |

[/ QUOTE ] Khaos - Many of the best food ideas tend to come about accidentally or via initially unwanted substitution. My rums are mostly for guests who do not enjoy vodka, but I do enjoy Tootsie Rolls. I'm going to try this sometime soon, thanks for the idea. |

Mint Julep : fresh mint, muddled with sugar, bourbon, crushed ice
Sidecar : 1 brandy : 1 countreau : 1 lemon juice Old Fashioned : rye or whisky, bitters, sugar, orange (I know, sort of more than 2) The problem with these 3 drinks is that they're great when done well, but they taste like ass at a typical bar which is staffed by morons. |

Oh yeah, again :
Caipirinha : Cachaca, simple syrup (sugar water), lime Delicious, but hard to find places with cachaca, people substitute rum and it's no good. Used to have tons of these at "Coffee Shop" NY. |

De facto official drink of Chile: Pisco + Coca Cola, creatively called a "Piscola" or "Piscolita."
It's super easy. Fill glass 1/2 with ice, 1:1 Pisco and Coke. Pisco is incredibly cheap there but more expensive in the states, but still relatively cheap, $20-30 for decent bottles.
