[ QUOTE ]
OMG OMG THE CHIRSTIANS ARE COMING! THE CHRISTIANS ARE COMING! THEY PROBABLY DONATE MORE MONEY TO CHARITY THAN I DO AND LIVE A MORE PEACEFUL LIFE THAN ME. OMG OMG OMG. Fwiw, Christianity is one of the worst predictors of how a person is going to vote, comared to any other religion, gender, race, income level, location, and nationality. [/ QUOTE ] WE'RE CHRISTIANS, CHRISTIANS WE'RE COMING FOR YOU, WHEN WE KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR, OH WHAT SHALL YOU DO? Btw, being an evangelical christian like the ones highlighted in the documentary Friends of God, or like the ones portrayed in that movie saved, is a very good indicator of how you will vote. |

The Christian right lacks the power to be anything other than an annoyance. I don't believe there's a trend in which that entity is gaining power either, in fact I think just the opposite. It's a slowly dying dinosaur.

[ QUOTE ] They shoot abortionists, and blow up clinics man. Doesn't that worry you? [/ QUOTE ] If you're going to generalize like that, it goes both ways: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Liberation_Front ZOMG, liberals are all terrorists! [/ QUOTE ] To be fair, there are more environmental terrorists than Christian terrorists too. |

It's a slowly dying dinosaur. [/ QUOTE ] If I'm remembering the recent doc correctly, there are around 60-80 million Evangelicals. The National Association of Evangelicals has 30 million registered members. Another source estimate: "When all is said and done, a general estimate of the nation's evangelical population could safely be said to average somewhere between 30-35% of the population, or about 100 million Americans." http://www.wheaton.edu/isae/defining...elicalism.html I'd say the numbers are significant. The numbers mean even more because they are all on the same page, they meet regularly and vote in blocs. |

I watched the HBO documentary and the scariest part to me was that Pelosi was so amazed that people like this exist. Her condescending attitude was annoying and I actually came away with a better opinion of the Christian Right than I had before.

Im more afraid of these people than some Christians, because these people have all the power and they are out to kill us all.

[/ QUOTE ] Actually, I thought Pelosi was pretty respectful and vice versa. Frankly, I don't find it that condescending to be surprised by some of what she found. Finding millions of people who believe the Earth is just a few thousand years old and genuinely believe that a demon is waging war for your soul by teaching evolution is pretty mind boggling in this day and age. Sure, if it was 900AD, perhaps it wouldn't be so amazing. |

you realize that the only thing one can make out in that photo is that there are trees in it and some water reflecting what must be some people.
