27o, I stayed at the Fairmont in Nov. I think the Oak Bar is much better during the day for a quick drink, largely because you can walk to the hotel lobby after and play with the hotel's pet dog.

Also, guitar hero is a terrific idea. Particularly if you include a wiseass or two.

Yah, I remember you posted about being in Boston for a few days and looking for stuff to do. If I remember correctly, your trip report had some pretty good restaurants in it.

Also, agree that Oak Bar is just as good in the day. Usually no live music, though. Either way, you can't lose.

Oooo....skating on the Frog Pond. Not a bad idea.

I work close to the Frog Pond in Beacon Hill and walk by it every day. It's a little smaller than a regulation rink, but the funny thing is it has a freaking Zamboni to clear the ice. I found that a little surprising.

yeah, my friend Kevin (the one I'm hanging w/ tomorrow) and I were supposed to go do that. It's so cold out now...we should've done it while it was still nice out. That's what he told me we were doing before he surprised me w/ tix to the Nutcracker. Maybe we'll do some skating before dinner or whatever else we decide to do tomorrow.

i doubt you have enough snow up there right now for this, but one of the best times i've ever had with a small group of friends was getting drunk and going sleding. the 7 friends i was with and i hadn't done it in 15 years, but it was crazy fun.

other than that, i would go to a good comedy club in beantown. you have some good ones up there.

I went cart racing at a similar place here in the OC (dromo1) with a big group and ended up bored, . Dno why....I also wasn't particularly good at it maybe? I mean, I don't think I was that bad (except for an immediate spin out the first time around b/c I refused to slow down for turns).

The group I went with was mostly like guys I know not close friends so maybe that was it....perhaps it would have been the pwn otherwise but I doubt it. Basically I found it to be too limiting as the track was big but the same each time around....I'd much rather do like off road something on a course or area that changes constantly.

Yeah I really hate snow...but if it does snow anytime soon I'm definitely going sledding.

I'm surprised and pleased by all these fun, different things to do. We have a fun bunch here in OOT.

Comedy clubs are also fun. My friend Mike hosts a comedy show in Somerville on ramdon saturdays at Yerardi's.

Mike Oster check it.

Alobar,

Trip report please, I wanted to go there all summer but we never got round to it.

Its pretty awesome. You go in fill out some waivers and then have to watch a safety video. You have to put on one of those fire jumpsuits (When I went in phoenix tho it was so hot they didnt make us wear them, so I think they are for more "part of the experience" than "safety". A helmet and neckbrace. You have to take a breathealazier before you get in the kart too.

When I went I remember paying for some package, it was like $30 for three races, and I remember thinking, "wow, that sucks I'll only get to race 3 times".

I never even did the 3rd race cuz I was so tired from the first 2. You are zipping along at like 25 or 30mph but its open wheeled and you are so close to the ground you feel like you are doing 60mph, so its really intense and takes a ton of concentration. I think each race was 10 minutes, but it felt like half an hour. I was actually sore the next day! When its over you get a printout with all your lap times, top speed, etc. And it compares you to everyone else in your race so you can see what rank your fastest lap was and what place you finished and all that.

The actual place had other stuff to do too, there was a rock climbing wall, a huge arcade, a little "playland", pool tables a snack bar.

I went with a group of friends (male and female) and every single one of us left excitedly talking about how it was the best time ever. I definitely would recommend it to anyone whos looking for something fun to do.

[/ QUOTE ]

they have a place called Fastlap her in Vegas - right across from my work! It's awesome and exactly like Alobar described. One time, I actually cracked a rib when my buddy T-boned me after I spun out - just because he could.

Good times.
