No reasons behind this other than I love to speculate. Someone mentioned this on FBGs:

Atlanta trades Matt Schaub and the 10th pick to Oakland(or any of the top few teams that could use a QB) to move up and select Calvin Johnson, who went to school at nearby Georgia Tech.

How much has JaMarcus Russell's stock improved w/ tonight's performance?

Who will be the Raiders QB next season if it's not Brady Quinn?

[/ QUOTE ]I could see him rocketing up and Quinn sliding.......very very simliar to the Leinart/Young situation last year actually.

There's no way Oakland will trade down from 1 to 10 for an unproven Matt Schaub. Atlanta would at best get a 2nd rounder. Now if Atlanta could get rid of Vick this way and move up like that, then they'd be on to something, but the owner is an idiot so don't expect anything.

My top 5(if cleveland wins coin flip)

Oakland: Calvin Johnson-replaces Randy Moss/ AL Davis doesn't like to pick QB's

Detroit: Brady Quinn-Obv. need a QB

Cleveland: Joe Thomas-Definite O-line upgrade.

Tampa Bay: JaMarcus Russell-Very Athletic/ Tampa needs QB help.

Arizona: Leon Hall-Help a bad Pass defense

[/ QUOTE ]I could definitely see this happening, although I think that both Oakland and Arizona would try to trade down in that case as theres a ton of talent at WR and CB/S in this year's draft, #1 and #5 is A LITTLE BIT high for both of those players, and both of these teams could greatly use the extra picks/players that they'd get by trading down.

Schaub is much more proven than Quinn or Russell since we've at least seen him in preseason and spot regular season action. Oakland clearly has multiple positions to fill, and this may help them do it.

They could prob get more than just Schaub + the 10 for the pick, and Oakland obv. has a ton of holes. Its very early obv. but I could see a lot of teams trying to move u--for Calvin Johnson, for Joe Thomas--and this seems reasonable.

Jeff W,

I know you were joking re: #2 to #1, and it was pretty funny, but I got to thinking: there actually is usually a significant money difference there, right? So it kind of IS a rocket.
