I'm skipping this despite having a seat via FTP freeroll.

I am going to the PCA and not playing that event.

Yes, some people think I'm smart.

o rly

u guys leaving PCA on the 12th or 11th (or 10th?)?

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe we're leaving on the 10th. If we make the WPT FT then we can get it changed, but I don't like the idea of landing in Australia and playing 12 hours later.

ajunglen,

would that be the case (12 hours of time before playing) if you are day 1a, or day 1b? I'm trying to figure this stuff out.

You need to bend over in order to recieve the rake they charge for cash games. Also I think they charge rake and time charge from what I remember. Anyway I'm traveling over from perth on the 5th and I'll be there till the 16th, longer if I win a seat in the ME. holla

I've been here for a few days, and have been playing a little bit of 1/2 NL here (I'm a tourney donk, still getting my cash legs). The rake for that game is 10% up to $6, plus $5 hourly time. So yeah, you get shafted. Buy in is $60 max/min as well, not sure if the higher stakes games are deeper or not. On the plus side, the play is suitably awful.

If anyones here already, feel free to shoot me a PM or something, I'm going to play the first 2 day event ($1100 NLHE) before taking off for Thailand.

The rake may suck but the players are terrible. Also, the Crown complex is amazing. Tons of food selection and right in the heart of the city. I'm likely headed back on the 10th to play in the feature event($1650 NL) and the main event. I imagine the cash games are going to be ridiculously crowded during the Aussie Millions so after I donk out of the tourneys I'll probably just switch to party mode.

I'm mostly a cash game player on FT (1/2NL). I qualified for the aussie millions via the freeroll. I have plenty of live cash game experience. This will be my first ever live big tournament. To all you veterans of these events, what was the one thing that surprised you the most when you played in your first 10K event? I've never even railed one of these tourneys so I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks!

Looking back on my first 10K event, I think I was probably hopeless, even as an MTT specialist. My best advise would be to relax and remember that it's just poker. Just play one hand a time, and rememeber that even the expereinced MTT players have to employ a similar decision-making process as you, so don't be intimidated.

Default Vancouver Represent!

Yo Shaniac

I be there. I am currently Backpacking Australia right. I just did the whole East Coast in 3 months time. My next stop is Melbourne and give it my all at the Aussie Million.
If you want to go get a drink during tourney time let me know. Same goes for other 2+2.

Later
Richard

Event 1 kicks off in about 90 minutes, so I figure we're due a bump. Judging from the thread, I'm the only one playing, but if anyones around, I'm at table 19, seat 5.
