[ QUOTE ]
As for them not getting disrespected...yeah, the spread is close, but its the 6 seed vs the 1 seed (granted, teh 6 seed is tremendous, and is the 6 seed only due to reg. season injuries, and they were favored on the road in the first round at the 3 seed, but still....) [/ QUOTE ] I think that before the playoffs started, many/most knowledgable NFL observers knews that the Steelers were one of the 4 best AFC teams. There were also many who felt that the best 4 teams in the NFL were all in the AFC. We don't need to re-hash the ACF/NFC arguments here, but basically the AFC is a whole lot stronger. [ QUOTE ] No, seriously, my question is if they will be considered a great team (not by me, but by public opinion at large). [/ QUOTE ] I'm really not sure either team is 'great', in a historical sense. as in, neither team is probably among the top 15/20 teams of all time. they've both certainly had great seasons, and have outplayed all the other top teams in the league when it mattered most. so, they're both due respect...but these teams are probably closer to Oakland/Tampa from a couple years ago then Philly/NE from last year. |

That's the thing, Iggy, Seattle doesn't have to put 8 men in the box.
Their Front 7 is phenomenal. Seattle doesn't put 8 men in the box and they're already one of the best teams in the league in stopping power running games. |

I think the Seahawks don't stop Bettis and Parker with 7 in the box. I think Roethlisberger still finds a way to move the ball.
Also, the Colts were the best team in the league this year, but Cowher and Lebeau Belichecked Manning and Dungy. The Seahawks are a very good team with a big secondary flaw. The Steelers are a very good team with an average running game. That said, the Seahawks win 41-3, because I get EC points for the # of points the Seahawks win by. |

But as much as the secondary is a weakness, the pass rush is the strength of the the Seahawks. The only team with a comparable pass rush to the Hawks are the Colts - and the Hawks are better. Roeth has the tendency to hold onto the ball too long, so he IS succeptible to going down a few times. He will go down in the Super Bowl.
Anyway, to sum it up, the Seahawks are roughly better in every single aspect of the game EXCEPT the secondary, which they're worse in. That said, the Seahawks will probably go to a max protect scheme with Mack Strong and their blocking TE, allowing Seattle to attack. Indy for some reason didn't do this, and when Denver did this they did it with crappy blockers. Cincy did this and had success until Kitna decided to start sucking. It's gonna be close and it's gonna be high scoring IMO. |

I think I'll go with 100 people who get paid to do this for a living than a salty fan on a message board. |

[/ QUOTE ] Right... why not just take someone on this forum to head up the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve instead of getting someone who is a paid specialist to replace Greenspan. |
