For you guys that say checking the turn and betting the river is bad because he will think its a strange line and look us up cheap.. isnt betting the turn kinda strange? What hands check call the flop then bet half pot on a Q turn? JQ? QQ? AJ? Air? A draw?

If HEK checks turn, he isnt getting paid off if he hits and will probably not be able to bluff villain off on a blank.

HEK, These were very good threads. Thanks. To those saying check the turn, there's basically NO hand that HEK could be holding here other than a draw that would check the turn. Our cards are essentially turned face up when we check here and when we hit we do not play for a large pot. We probably only extract value when on a River 7 and sometimes a T. [/ QUOTE ] AJ for example is a hand which would definately take this line, of checking behind the turn and calling a blank / value betitng. |

if HEK bets turn, he might as well have two go fish cards. ya lets play the way youre supposed to-flat call on flops with big draws, and then voluntarily put more money in with 9high with one card to go. that sounds great to me.

[/ QUOTE ] if you only call on flop youre also giving away a lot of info on your hand. how often does Rounder think that youll just call on flop with 2pair or better? Not very often. therefore i could see rounder blow you off many hands (and this big draw) with anything from A high to a made hand A LOT, especially since he thinks youre weak tight right now. calling this flop, and then betting after his check is just going to tell him even more-that you have 2pair at best the vast majority of the time. i dont know about you guys but calling flop and betting turn is not a very common line with two pair or a set. In addition, i'd say that when people do in fact flat call with a set on this flop, they arent going to be betting this turn everytime with sets--these people tend to be off the reservation and will check and bet the turn somewhat randomly. This is irrelevant tho bc rounder obv knows this is not something HEK would be doing. So lets just continue this brillance and bet with 9high with one card to go when we're getting a free look at 15 wins. oh ya hopefully he'll just shove and we fold and lose ~5k, or he just calls and river comes a blank and w e're in another fantastic spot. |
