Derek and the Dominos

they only made 1 studio album, but it's so good it should count as 2 or 3.

Allman Brothers are similar and have a bunch of good albums, but like D&tD they are blues/rock, not pop/rock

Joker - from reading the bands in this thread, and based on Diablo's OP, I think Green Day imight be the best choice.

Dibalo - I was gonna go Def Leppard after I posted Pearl Jam, but Ghazban beat me to it so I'm pretty much feeling defeated and tapped out now.

OK TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS. I just primarily listen to the greatest hits, that's all. They're about as "we just play straightforward, good rock" as you get, though.

stiff little fingers.

I like the tom petty suggestion. Although I am not a big fan U2 was the first thing that came to mind when I read the title of this thread.

My vote is for Incubus starting with their album Make Yourself. Anything before that and they are too weird.

Nickelback is another one that always seems to come out with some mega popular poppy song. Definitely not my favorite.

KBZ,

Come on man, you can do better!

I'm surprised you didn't mention CCR, which might be better than all your choices so far.

Kyle,

Of course, ultra-suckmasters Nickelback are a valid choice.

Wow I completely forgot about G&R.

In Nickelback's defense they definitely have made several songs that I really like the first time I heard them. The constant radio play made me wanted to kill though.

The Strokes and I would say Ween, but they're like too creative or something.

Styx, Electric Light Orchestra, the Kinks, Steely Dan, ZZ Top, Yardbirds, any of these count?

edit: probably all too creative now that I think about it
