From what I've seen of cutler in the pro's

[/ QUOTE ]

Huh? Cutler hasn't taken a single snap the entire regular season.

[/ QUOTE ]

He looked quite excellent in the preseason, IIRC

Only Romo looked better. but its only preseason.

I don't understand this picking Vick because he sells jerseys crap. This is the NFL, it's not like you're team is going to be hard up for cash with a less popular QB in there.

All the teams are profitable. The ones who sell more jerseys are more profitable. Owners didn't become rich enough to own football teams by passing up potential income-producing opportunities.

Leinart looked great in the preseason also. He's looked worse in the regular season (though he has had his moments).

I would take Roethlisberger over Rivers over all of those.

I would say that both Roethlisberger and Rivers will have a higher peak than any of them - both pretty close together.

Of those mentioned I would take Vick and Cutler like pretty most have.

I would think you'd make more money by actually winning with a lesser known, better QB. Plus that person would likely become much more popular once they started winning.

And it's not like Leinart is some nobody.

Winning is fleeting, just ask the Steelers. The ability to sell jerseys can last an entire career. Vick has been at or near the top of the lists of jersey sales ever since he came into the league. He sells more jerseys than Brady, the best winner (among QBs) in the NFL.

Agreed, though, that Leinart probably has the second best marketability of the QBs in this thread.

Vince Young
Mike Vick
Eli Manning/Jay Cutler
Matt Leinart
Alex Smith

I'm actually a Vince Young hater but I've gotten to watch him a few times now and he's making NFL defenses look ridiculously bad. He's not supposed to be able to do the things he's doing.

For all the grief Vick gets, he's still a winner and a difference maker. Check the Falcons record the past few years with and without Vick. It's like night and day.

Eli is pretty good a lot of times but still inconsistent.

The jury's still out on Cutler.

Leinart has regressed since his first start, and I'm not entirely convinced he can have any meaningful success in the NFL. Still, I think he has a better shot than...

Alex Smith. He's certainly improved from last year, but it would have been hard to play any worse. He's bought himself another year at least.

Another year? Rofl. More like a bunch of years. Most top picks get the benefit of doubt for a bunch of seasons unless they are truly awful. 9ers were left in the trash can when he was drafted and they actually looked worse on paper this year when the season started due to the leaving of Peterson, Lloyd and Carter and yet they've been better. He's not great but he's really young and has developed well. If he keeps developing along with Gore and an improved O-line, I think the 9ers will be alright with Smith at the helm. He's got a cannon and moves well in the pocket.

People saying VY look at Michael Vick right now now remember that Vick was a stronger arm the VY.

People saying Vick makes your team money, winning makes your team more money than selling jerseys. What percent of the Falcons net income is made up of Vick's jersey sales?

I picked Leinart for both, but I'm not particularlly crazy about the picks.
