in actual practice the pain the kid went through is probably LESS than getting sprayed or tasered but it looks terrible and it makes the job harder for other, more competent cops.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah this the problem that most of yall dont seem to understand. This sort of behavior doesnt make people fear the cops or behave better, it makes them hate the cops and trust them less and more likely to run/resist.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ive had lots of expierences with cops, I dont think Im a bad person. Out of all the expierences with them I think one has been a positive one. This goes the same for pretty much everyone I know, certainly anyone Ive ever talked about it with. Minorities and urban youth, specifically urban youth of color have a general distrust of police, and they have a damn good reason for it. Beatings like this go hand in hand with police planting evidence, shooting unarmed people only to claim later they thought a cell phone was a gun, and a number of other horrible things. Police have way too much power and it is far to common that it ends up being abused. This guy might not be a saint (not to say he isnt, we have no real evidence ot the contrary) but its disgusting that anyone would say that he deserves this.

We have courts(with thier own inherent problems) for a reason people, wake up.

If you can say "I can't breath..."...YOU CAN BREATH

Clearly there are degrees of being able to breathe though and when someone has their knee on your throat I'm guessing you're more at the can't breathe end of the spectrum than the can breathe end.

Here's what I think happened. None of the responses in this thread mention what I'm about to say. Read this, then go back and look at the video again.

Suspect is whining, "I can't breath." Then he stops whining. Then he gets tuned up.

Here's what I think happened: I think he bit the officer in the leg. And the officer didn't like being bitten.

The officer's body language changes dramatically in an instant. You hear "Let go!", and it doesn't sound like the suspect's voice. I think he had a mouthful of bacon (sorry, couldn't resist the metaphor), and he's lucky the punching stopped when he stopped biting.

Anybody think I'm onto something here?

EDIT: I just watched it again. At the end, the cop is saying "Let go of me," while the suspect isn't using his hands. I'm convinced there was biting going on there.

[/ QUOTE ]

The guy's a biter.

even if the cop is being bitten, between 2 of them they could extricate the bite, cuff him then slap on an aggravated assault charge.

The officer's reaction is understandable, but not acceptable.

There is nothing that could have happened beforehand to justify this. The policeman in question should be immediately fired.

if you have a knee on your neck i don't think you can bite the leg very well. but this is an interesting observation, we'll see if the cops claim it was the case.

It's mostly disgraceful because those enforcing the laws of our land should be those best placed to realise how inappropriate it is to take the law into one's own hands.

It reminds me of a recent case in the UK - two immigration lawyers who hired an illegal immigrant to housekeep their respective houses. It's that awful "above the law, untouchable" attitude which is what it rotten and corrupt at the heart of self-appointed "civilised" or "developed" countries.

these videos are always total BS. all you see is a short clip of some jerk beating up another jerk. most of what happened got cut out so you are not getting a truthful report about the facts of what happened.

this is just biased, dishonest crap meant to make the cops look bad and the handcuffed perpetrator look like a "victim"

the cop is probably an angry jerk and the person he was beating probably deserved much worse.
