Figure it never hurts to bump this thread. And I just got done with my first hour of following fim's 6 max starting hands guidelines. And the results were great (I know the sample size is too small) and surprising.

The surprising part: I had a tighter table image. I guess I wasn't the tightest player to begin with (30% VPIP & 12.6% PFR), but, even though my VPIP was higher (~40%), my table image was tighter because I was doing a lot of limping with speculative hands in late position and folding if someone bet on the flop. My theory is that no one noticed me doing this because it is pretty standard on Party.

As a result, I was able to steal more pots - either with semi-bluffs or when checked to on the Button. I saw the genius of the strategy visually when I put it into an Excel spreadsheet. Here it is:

[image]D:\Docs\Poker Resources\fim chart EP.bmp[/image]

Position is everything in NL hold 'em.

By the way, if anyone wants a copy of the complete spreadsheet PM me with your email address.

Shoot the image didn't work. But anyway, it shows how ridiculously tight the strategy is from EP.

Hi Fim,
just revisited this great post. I gather it was made for the Party 50BB in the "old days".

1) Would you change much of your starting hand play now with the 100BB structure?

2) What about the general advise you gave ("8 biggest mistakes in SSNLHE"), do you feel all of these apply to the 100NL game as well / to the same extent? If not, which are the biggest differences you see?

Thanks!

hi fim - superb post!

can you be more specific about the little trash list (ie. is A2 in the list?)

>>> LOT: little offsuit/suited trash 69, 35, 24, 23 etc.

Thanks,

Paul.

hi fim,

another question - you have mentioned how to play when "first in" and "with limper(s)" - how would you deal with a standard raise (3-5BB) for each and hand type/position?

cheers,

paul.

Fim,

Question: You are recommending, in early position to CF (call and fold to a raise) w/ AKs. It sounds like you are saying open-limp w/ AKs and then fold to a raise.

1. Do you mean fold only to a huge raise?
2. Why limp?

I guess my confusion comes from comparing AKs to small pocket pairs, where you recommend CC (calling and calling a raise). 22 withstands more heat than AKs?

(And thanks for the post!)
