[ QUOTE ]
I would also put ivy in the overated players, even though he is a great player becasue he is made out to be a god from olympus. he is tops, maybe even best, but they have made more out of him than is justified. thus he is great and maybe the best, but is overated, nonetheless. [/ QUOTE ] Ivey should never be mentioned when discussing overrated players. If you agree that he may be the best player in the world, then you're agreeing with where others have rated him. I've never seen anyone say he's head and shoulders above the rest (let alone god-like), but it seems that most top pros respect his play the most. That's not just media or marketing hype (except Norman Chad's comments about him, but that's just his humorous way of showing respect), that's straight from the mouths of his peers. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't understand how you can overrate someone who is the best. Do people say, "Ivey is so good, we need to create a spot HIGHER than 'Best poker player' to indicate his level of genius?" |

Whoa whoa whoa buddy, slow down, ALan Goehring, Hachem overrated? That's a little much. Goehring cleared like $5 million in tourney winnings and is one of the winniest players on the WPT. He has shown that over and over again. [/ QUOTE ] Alan is underrated. overrated lol. Lederer has a ton of respect for him, and to me that says a lot. he has a very interesting style that's worked out very well for him. he's very good at what he does, isn't flashy, and has the respect of his peers. who can complain about that? |

Sigh. People need to look up the definition of "overrated".

As I said, I think he's very good at what he does, tournaments. He's consistently done well for the last 10 years or so. I do think people underestimate the amount of luck in tournaments, but to do so well for so long in my opinion has to be an indication of him doing something right. no one's saying he's the greatest, and it's clear he's not a flash in the pan (grinder? tuan le?) so the disagreement is confusing to me. Agree to disagree, though.

For 1 Esfandiari DESTROYS cash games...period
Some of you guys are hilarious. Basing your answers on literally 2-3 sessions is absurd. First off they show at most 10 percent of the hands that are being played, therefore revealing a scarce amount of real information. Secondly, poker is a very ambivalent game, with winners and losers determined many times on the flip of a coin and sometimes by 'coming from behind or being outdrawn'. I would enjoy watching one of your guys sessions and then randomly choosing hands to watch and then making a conclusion about your skill. I do agree you can make educated predictions about a players skill, but from what I can tell Tuan Le is definitely not overrated, as for the rest, its difficult to say because you never watch them truly play. |

I used to think Phil Laak and Antonio were overrated, but seeing them on HSP they're actually pretty good. [/ QUOTE ] |

To me this thread sort of falls under the category of "everybody thinks they're the best poker player around".....
And to the OP's post, if anything Tuan Lee is under-rated, not over-rated. His results speak for themselves. |
