Word is this is NOT gaming related and do to some outstanding state warrant out of Louisiana. Rumor is it is for soliicitation. Amazing if it is true, look at it what it did to the sector on the AIM.

Where'd you get this from? Several million bucks for the taking in net gaming if it's true.

Very clearly the crackdown on internet gambling is considered by the U.S. government to be part of the War on Terror.

The latest Reuters report now says that he was arrested on an outstanding Louisiana warrant. But we don't know whether that warrant is related to gambling, solicitation, or something else.

thank [censored] God.

FWIW, it doesn't really matter what the warrant is for - if it's already in the system, he would have been picked up no differently than any other passenger flying through the States.

They might charge him with sportsbook related stuff now that they have a high profile guy in custody (essentially a blank check to charge him with anything/give a prosecutor free publicity), but if there was a warrant, they weren't actively looking for him.

That means they got a list, surveil who's traveling, abusing war on terror intelligence...

[/ QUOTE ]

Well of course they are. Nobody who is paying the slightest bit of attention expected them to do otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's no need for this. You just put the person's name, country, and passport information into a watch list that gets flagged at Customs.

FWIW, Peter Dicks is associated with US and UK companies, so it is probably something he did in the US, and not gaming related.

End of worries.

Apparently, he WAS related on internet gambling charges, but they were state charges, not federal charges.

I tried to buy a can of beer at a regular store in Plano, TX and was told I couldn't because although I could prove my age, I didn't have a club membership

For the most part texas is a dry state it is illegal to sell alcohol in said counties unless in a private club... its their way of circumventing the law by charging you club dues... at least thats how I think it works read about it somewhere the other night

LA has a track record here. Apparently the LA AG emailed PartyGaming a cease and dissist (sp?) order a few years back, so it isn't shocking to see that state pop up again in this case.

Regardless, this has to be good news under the circumstances, right? (At least as far as US players being able to access their funds and withdraw).
