I really like every single actor involved in this movie, and Scorcese, but for the movie to be getting so much praise for a remake seem irrational. Every scene in the trailer was in the original movie. Is the new version going to be different? I will definitely go and see it, but it is still just a remake. Comparing it to Good Fellas just seems silly.

Should a remake even be in the running for oscars? I hear people nominating Scorcese for best Director, but from the trailer and photos it looks extremely similar to the original - so just where is this immense directorial skill that is worthy of an Oscar?

I loved the original (saw it years ago), but the Departed blows the original away. This is a great movie, I'd say at the level of goodfellas and mayve even better after some viewings (need to watch it more times). This movie was sick.
