Annie Duke made the featured table? What a coincidence for ESPN!

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't see what you're getting at. They randomly draw table seating, then pick the best table for TV.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm saying, somewhat sarcastically, that it was a virtual given that whichever table Annie Duke was assigned to was going to be picked as the feature table by ESPN.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why would you say that?

On a flop of 8diamond6heart2club James Johnson ($59,300) leads out for $6,000 and Daniel Negreanu ($331,000) calls. Johnson bets $6,000 at the 7diamond turn and Negreanu raises to $26,000 and Johnson moves all-in for $43,300. Negreanu calls with 9club9spade versus Johnson's QclubQdiamond. The river Jclub brings no help to Negreanu and he loses a big pot early, falling to $271,700 while Johnson doubles up.

If I ever play with Annie Duke, especially on TV, I have my lines ready

Me: "Hey, floor, can we get a round table to play on? I demand a round poker table."

Dealer or Floor: "Why?"

Me: "So Annie won't have any angles to shoot."

*wah wah wah*

pretty loose move-in imo. negreanu had trips, 2 pair or a combo draw alot there imo.

[/ QUOTE ]

Johson's push, Negreanu's call, or both?

[/ QUOTE ]

Johson's push. Negreanus call is fine obv. and he played the hand well imo.

I just think that given negreanu's range Johson should have folded turn.

Jason Fields limps under the gun and a player in early position makes it $5,000 to go. Daniel Negreanu calls from the big blind and Fields calls as well. The flop comes 10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], and Negreanu checks. Fields checks and the early position player bets $15,000. Negreanu check raises him to $40,000 and Fields re-raises all-in for $65,200. The early position player thinks for three minutes before mucking his hand. Negreanu says he knows he is beaten by a set of fours but has to calls for only $25,200 more. Negreanu makes the call and sure enough, his opponent shows 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Negreanu shows 10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. The turn and river come 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and Negreanu takes another hit to his stack. After the hand, Negreanu is down to $195,000 and Fields is up to $170,000.

Tough start for Daniel.

Is this a serious question? Over the last 4 years or so, ESPN has, in my opinion, gone out of its way to promote Annie Duke as the best female player in the game. She's constantly being featured, interviewed, shown, talked about, and I don't think all of the coverage is warranted. She's certainly not a bad player, but I don't think she's anywhere near as good as ESPN wants us to believe she is---and I KNOW she's not anywhere as good as she apparently thinks she is.

My original post was meant as an innocuous sidebar to the daily coverage thread, and wasn't meant to start an Annie Duke thread, so I'm going silent on the issue from now on.
