[ QUOTE ]
Im a pissed off Cubs fan and I need new ownership and personnel or im gonna go crazy. [/ QUOTE ] You've put your finger on the problem: you need new ownership, but you're not going to get it. There is an alternative to going crazy, however. You can stop being a Cubs fan. This is going to sound like pure troll, but it isn't; I'm trying to give you some good advice. The Cubs represent everything that is wrong with modern America: they have a cutsey name; they play in an outmoded and decaying infra-structure; and, most importantly, they have corporate ownership that wants to make a profit, doesn't care if it wins or loses as long as it makes its short-term money, and wouldn't know a winning baseball team if one fell out of a tree and landed on them. For decades, I used to eat breakfast in the same cafe every morning. I always sat at the counter and I always sat next to Mr. Baker. Mr. Baker was born in 1908 and had been an avid Cubs fan his entire life. He had no living memory of the Cubs being World Champs, but he never lost hope. He watched and scored all their games on WGN, and he'd sit at that counter every morning trying to dream up the one move that would propel the Cubs to greatness. Mr. Baker died in 2001, a broken man. Most people speculated that the Pall Malls killed Mr. Baker, but they didn't---it was the Chicago Cubs. Don't become another Mr. Baker. Say to yourself, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any more!" Turn your life around. Go to the nearest sporting goods store. Buy one of those beautiful black hats that say SOX on the front. Hell, buy any hat you want as long as it isn't a Cubs hat. End the madness. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] After further thought, he probably isn't top 5 in MLB, but def. Top 10. [/ QUOTE ] ARod Wright Cabrera Rolen Glaus Chipper Atkins Crede Zimmerman Mora Blalock Ensberg And if you don't think Zimmerman and/or Atkins are better than Aramis, Morgan Ensberg DEFINITELY is. [/ QUOTE ] The same Ensberg who the Astros had to trade for another player to come in and play his position some of the time? Okay. [/ QUOTE ] In fairness, maybe he sucks because he is hurt. [/ QUOTE ] 1. He is on the 15-day DL 2. Huff plays much more than 3B. [/ QUOTE ] I'm aware, but they said he would take at bats away from Ensberg with Ensberg hitting 235 |

I'm not sure why Cedeno is listed by several people as a 'keeper,' he sucks out loud.

"Blasphemy."
Truth. Often true believers label truth as blasphemy. Phat Mack is right here. As I have posted before in various rants against the Cubs. And yes, I say it to true believers like my father. True believers are not true fans. True fans root for the Yankees now. Or the White Sox. Anybody but Les Cubs, because as long as the true believers support Les Cubs, they will suck. They are Les Cubs because they represent French values, although with less charm and substance. |

[/ QUOTE ] as touching as that story is, i dont think i can make the switch. Ive grown up all my life being a Cubs fan and changing now i'd feel like a traitor. I just cant bring myself to switch, I really dont know how anyone can do that. |

[/ QUOTE ] .255/.280/.338 [/ QUOTE ] I understand. His numbers aren't good, but guys don't get better by giving up on them after 3 months. He has a lot of talent. Also, right now he's in a very bad slump which probably makes his numbers look worse than they really are. |
