"These guys are running through directors, shift managers, floor people, and dealers since before opening like crazy. At this rate, there won't be any qualified people to run this place."
I see your point bro but IMO they still have a lot of VERY good floor, dealers, brush, cocktails, etc. Some of the best in the city for my money. YMMV. All the best, Howard |

When you decide to put up $500,000 for a freeroll then you can make the rules. If you are a real man and willing to fight for principles then dont play. Yea, just what I thought. [/ QUOTE ] What are you 12 years old? Who talks like this? |

[ QUOTE ] "I'm sure the board would like answers, but I heard through the grapevine just yesterday that Lee Vinocur was removed from the position as poker room manager at the Venetian a couple days ago." True. Two days ago. [/ QUOTE ] These guys are running through directors, shift managers, floor people, and dealers since before opening like crazy. At this rate, there won't be any qualified people to run this place. [/ QUOTE ] That really bites...I was just warming up to the place too.. Matt |

[ QUOTE ] you should be jumping for joy playing against players from blackjack, craps, and other games. this is what poker tables need. quit your complaining and destroy the tourney. [/ QUOTE ] Ehh, no. With a choice between a freeroll for, say, 50 poker players or a freeroll for 50 poker players + 50 house game players, no-one in their right mind would choose tha later. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I would choose the latter rather than the former. DEAD MONEY!!!!! Seriously, I rather play against 99 people where 50 of them have no clue than 49 people who have a clue. Imagine if you're at a table where you have 7-8 of the no clue people at your table. |

[ QUOTE ] OP, how much time did you spend away from the table and still got credit for the hour? (I know you did. Everyone does.) [/ QUOTE ] That sounds like a losing players comment. I spent very little time away from the table when I played there. I am a winning player that does not benefit by being away from the table. [/ QUOTE ] No, it doesn't. It sounds like someone with a bit more sophistication and sense of humor, but never mind. Your response is all the indication I need to ignore you. |

I see your point bro but IMO they still have a lot of VERY good floor, dealers, brush, cocktails, etc. Some of the best in the city for my money. YMMV. All the best, Howard [/ QUOTE ] Thanks Howard. I work there as a dealer and I'd like to add my two cents to all this... 1. I believe its a very premature to say the room won't be well run or staffed adequately. 2. There have been comments to the effect that someone from table games or slots couldn't possible know how to manage a poker room. This presumption casts a very large net and I submit to you there are individuals who do not belong in that catch. Those of you who believe this should be glad Lee (from table games) is gone. I personally thought he was doing a good job of communicating with the 2+2 forum. However, my opinion on that is simply in regards to answering your queries. Obviously there is more to the job than that. I didn't work with Lee in managing the poker room and I defer to Kathy Raymond in regards to staffing. I do believe that her choices for upcoming personnel will be good. Keep in mind that when she came to the Venetian poker room most of the personnel was already in place. It is absolutely within her right to make changes as she sees fit. She knows poker. 3. To the comments about Foxwoods dealers not keeping their own tips...I highly doubt that was at Kathy's directive...that appears to be a general FW stance. 4. And now... about these rumors of the freeroll and "more" added players. Time will tell. As I sit here at home, being off the past two days, I wonder myself. If the upper management at Venetian deems it in their best overall interest to allow some others to participate, then so be it. I'm sure those players probably would be dead money for the most part, but that would indeed be more numbers for y'all to beat nonetheless. No getting around that if it turns out to be the case. Of course...its a rumor... However it turns out, I'm not going to get my panties in a wad about it and think the Venetian's a horrible place to play poker ... because it simply is not. I trust those of you that have been playing there recognize the room as one of the best, if not the best in a number of areas. I expect it will get even better with time. 5. Now about tipping the dealers...... |

Hi Johnny:
First off you should check with Venetian management to find out what exactly is happening. But cardrooms that have these freeroll type promotions in my opinion are making a big mistake. The problem is that they tend to attract an undesirable element. Now of course this isn't the case with you, but if they go ahead and allow some of their best casino customers to sit in the freeroll tournament where you may have some undesirable people sitting right next to them, it would not have a positive effect. Of course, if the rumor that you have heard is not accurate, then this previous comment won't apply. So again I suggest you talk to Venetian Cardroom management to get an answer. Best wishes, Mason |

Hi Howard:
I've also heard that Lee is no longer with the Venetian. He seemed as if he was very interested in developing a good room. I don't know the reason for his leaving. best wishes, Mason |
