George Jones (I Always Get Lucky With You and She Thinks I Still Care are amazing songs).
Dwight Yoakam. Lyle Lovett. Alison Kraus and Union Station. Willie Nelson. I am not a huge country fan, but the above are all excellent, with multiple great albums.

a little more - two of those early influences credit Townes Van Zandt - get a greatest hits album or I'll find one for ya to buy that's good. Hank Williams was country - Jr. is ok too but I get tired of the redneck stuff sometimes rb
