nobody cares who you root for and your argument is retarded.

Another whiny Euro apparently.

Go back to arguing that racist slurs are acceptable.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm American. I never said that racist slurs were acceptable. I only said that I would be more then happy to accept them for millions of dollars a year.

flopping, flailing, faking Euros.

Ever seen Uraguay? Also, this is as retarded as me saying all yanks are cowboys.

I agree with you here. Italy are just sooooo bad that they make it seem like all of Europe play like them. Here's a joke I made up at the game yesterday as two scantily clad Italian women walked by and another Italian player lay in a crumped heap on the field:

How are Italian women like their soccer players?

They're always on their backs.

Since we are all aware how much Europeans love the US.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is the beauty of football, it can make you love a country of cousin marrying rednecks who can barely read and don't have passports.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe if European countries weren't smaller than many of our individual States, you wouldn't all need passports.

I don't know how you can dismiss the biased officiating claim as pure girly hysteria.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mmmmmm yes, that's exactly what it is.

[ QUOTE ]
You never once felt that the US was getting the short end of the sitck yesterday, that every 50/50 call was going for Italy?

[/ QUOTE ]

Mmmmmmm, nope.

My default position is to root against the Euros. By my reckoning colonialism has bought them several more generations of ill-will.

I would normally default to CONCACAF, because I'm Jamaican, as difficult as it is to support the USA (just because, really).

Other than that, Africa or Asia vs Euro, it's the non-Euro every time.

Having said that, seeing the words "very very lucky" applied to anyone other than S. Korea in this sentence made my eyes bug out:

The 2002 WC semifinals had Korea, Brazil, Turkey and a very very lucky German team.

I've been an ardent backer of S Korea and Nigeria since 94 (see particularly S Korea vs Germany in 94 and the heart and flair they showed). And I like to believe that in 12 years Africa will have earned as many slots as europe. That said, I bet my money on a mid-ranked European country over any non-brazil/argentina country in the world straight up. As fantastic as it was to watch Nigeria v. Spain in 98, I think the way Denmark (a team weaker than Spain) dismantled Nigeria in the next match 4-1 with far superior organization in midfield and defense is mroe indicative of the "true" relative values. I also think taht if those Nigerian players had been on that Denmark team for 4 years they would have been world champions. Although I'm about to shop for Ivory Coast and Ghana jerseys now, I think that, eg, the attrocious IC defensive lapses v. Argentina and the comically bad goal keeping of Ghana are examples of how they are still a level below overall.

Brazil had a ton of problems beating Australia and Croatia, are they overrated too? As a whole obviously europe plays the best football in the world, I don't really see the point of your op.

The point is to see if anyone else is also rooting against all the European teams. I'll work on a clearer title next time.

Is this an continental pride thing or is it just a coincidence that you hate them all?

My feelings are fairly simple: I like Italy & England because I have them in my blood. France, Germany, and most others can go to hell. I've always liked the Dutch for some reason.

I also could never root for Mexico.
