carter in his prime was the best dunker of all time.

the best dunker currently is either gerald green, andre iguodala, or jason richardson.

even in his post-injury version carter is probably good enough to be the current best. (the two dunks on Alonzo this year were sick).

Jason Richardson is the best contest dunker, has the best contest dunk ever, and another couple in the top10

Shawn Kemp has gotten a few mentions so far, and I think he has to be near the top. Definitely not the best, but he was a beast.

As far as contest dunkers go, White's windmill dunk from the foul line in this year's college contest is easily the sickest thing I've seen (IMO, of course ... you could argue for a couple others).

Jordan's leaner will be remembered when all of the tougher dunks are forgotten.

As for "best dunker," though, I think I'd have to go with Carter.

1. Carter - Pound for pound and inch for inch, the best overall combination of creativity, finesse, power, and, at times, pure viciousness. And the dunk over Frederic Weis is one of, if not, the best in-game dunks ever.

ok, let me throw in my 2 cents.... firstly, let me preface this by saying I absolutely despise Vince Carter... but he IS hands down, the best game dunker of all time.. he was rated there by Slam magazine who has the top 50 dunkers of alltime (Jordan, Nique, Dr. J and Michael Wislon who dunked on a 12 foot rim round out the top 5)... but take these as proof... 1) Vince over Freddy Weis 2) his Windmill alley in the rucker park summer league (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07ED-...;search=rucker) 3) his baseline jacknife reverse vs the Pacers his rookie year 4) his dunk on Zo this year that was called the greatest in game NBA dunk off all time (keep in mind Zo is 3rd on the all time shot blocking list).... Vince is #1 followed by MJ

for those of u talking about James White, let me tell u, he will be up there... I used to play pickup w/ James White, and he routinely did things that normal humans do not even think of... he would dunk 2 handed from the elbow off of fast breaks like it was nothing, 360 between the legs, u name it, he did it... he said he wants 2 dunk from the top of the key b4 he retires... that may be a stretch, but don't count him out... but as far as the best dunker 2 ever play in the league... it's hands down Vince @ this point

and an earlier poster mentioned J-Rich having the best dunk contest dunk ever... I assume he is alluding to the backwards b/w the legs, which was no doubt nice, but doesn't stand up to anything James White did, and as far as NBA contests go Iguodala off the back of the backboard, JR Smith behind the back, and MJ's kiss the rim are definitely better, not to mention the Darvin Ham's Jacknife reverse in the 97 dunk contest....

but if ur looking for the single greatest dunk in dunk contest history (non-NBA) look up Jameel Pugh....2 FEET from the free throw line..... he finished 2nd in the college contest 2 years ago b/c he missed a b/w the legs w/ 2 feet from like 12 feet... but if ur interested, look 4 it... that was #1 in my book
