I disagree. The Dems are orchestrating a deliberate poltical tactic called "human political sheilds".

*John Murtha (you can't attack him because he is a ex-marine)
*Cindy Sheehan (you can't attack her because her son died)
*Jersey Girls (you can't attack them because they're 911 widows)
*Max Cleland (you can't attack him because his lost 4 limbs in Vietnam on his way to a BBQ)
*Michael Berg (you can't attack him because his son was beheaded in Iraq)
*There are probably others I have not thought of.

[/ QUOTE ]

Who, in your opinion, are the credible critics of either the Iraq War or the Global War on Terror?

However, on the face of it there is nothing wrong with that statement.

Wow.

You dont get a free pass in life simply because your spouse dies.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know why some of you act like if this was some kind of revelation, nobody has a free pass in politics. Especially the republicans have acted this way like forever, they have no shame at all attacking everybody that don't agree with their line, no matter who they are. To say that Ann is trying to point that out (no free pass) is totally disingenuous. It's disgusting how some of you guys try to use this argument to make the Coulter comments a little more coherent. Her comments were really clear, no matter how you want to spin them, and they have nothing to do with giving somebody a free pass. Her comments were just stupid; and frankly you have to be stupid (or live in the twilight zone) to think she's making a valid point with such comments.

Ann is a satirist and a very good one.

************************************************
Some examples would include:
*Thomas Friedman
*Alan Colmes
I disagree with them but at least they can make lucid arguments against the war.

Parading physical and emotional cripples in front of TV cameras is meant to INFLUENCE people EMOTIONALLY and not intellectually.

This coming from someone who can't spell their home state.

[/ QUOTE ]

You should look up the difference between "can't" and "didn't." Though as someone who thinks Coulter is truthful, I suspect distinctions like that are irrelevent.

"FN is right on. She is the flip side of Al Franken's satire, except she's actually funny....and doesnt lie like Franken."

1) Humor is often subjective. If you find humor in calling people who disagree with you traitors and saying they should be bombed, then I can see why she would appeal to you.
2) Reading 'lies': Here you lose credibility. There's quite a bit of literature documenting Ann's freedom from truth.

Frankly, if you honestly believe that, we should just stop here. Your kind of ignorance is really quite dull.

Whatever happened to attacking what they have to say instead of attacking the people or their character? Or is that long gone? Did it ever exist?

[/ QUOTE ]

You get a lot of silence from the Ann fans here. They've learned long ago that debating on substance doesn't get them as far as attacking people.

Demonize and destroy is far more effective for their followers then a substantive discussion of the issues.

This is why instead of encouraging discussion... those who disagree are "with the enemy" or "traitors." (see the writings of Ann Coulter for numerous examples) No need to discuss ideas... after all, they're traitors, or 'just enjoying their husbands deaths', etc.

Where is the evidence that they're enjoying their loved one's deaths? Or the "benefits" or their deaths? Where in their statement is there something hateful about George Bush?

9/11 was a big deal. The families of victims were sought out by the media. Not just the liberal media. One of the things that attracted me about the movie United 93 was the fact that quite a few of the victims' familieis recommended the movie.

So, with access to the media, and motivated by the deaths of their loved ones, these women (and other people) have atttempted to use their access to effect policy. I can't see that there's anything wrong with that.

Do we know for a fact, BTW, that these women were not millionaires before 9/11? (Kristin Breitweiser, perhaps the most outspoken of the group, is an attorney.) Has their lifestyle changed appreciably since their 9/11 monetary settlement? Does she know these women personally? Does she know if, for example, they cry every night over their losses?

Ann Coulter certainly doesn't see herself as a satirist. It's easy for the rest of us to so see her, since what she says bears only minimal relationship to truth.

based on what Felix has said to this point.. what leads you to believe he has evidence or requires any?

Just curious.

I think the interesting thing about these boards is seeing people trying to be rational with people who feel their emotional (or politically motivated) opinions are more relevent then any informed or supported argument.

Arguing with someone who states flatly; Ann is truthful and funny... everyone on the left lies. Do you honest believe they've looked at it with even an iota of attempted impartiality or care about anything so frivolous as 'evidence'?

I take it you believe those are the genuine thoughts of Kristen Breitweiser, and that the statement wasnt 100% prepared by the Dems for her, and that they arent paying the freight for the 9/11 Widows Tour?
