I say "Irish", but I'm 6th generation American. My ancestors got here in 1850. I would never say "I'm American".

I thought everyone can tell Americans from a mile away anyway? And saying you are "American" doesn't mean much, as this country is such a melting pot.

in case u didn't guess i'm irish. well, at least 75% irish. everything else is a random mix of that other island near by. but my family has been here for over 200 yrs so i'm def an american.

both sets of my grandparents came to the united states from ireland prior to having children. they were of scotch irish descent. that combined with the fact that i ahve a fairly irish look to me, i work and drink with a first generation irish immigrant, and my last name is very recognizably irish, tend to make people question me about my irish heritage before i tend to bring it up. i don't feel any shame claiming it, since it is still a fairly direct line.

Im such a mutt that when people ask me where Im from, I just grab ahold of an accent and run with it... I can do everything white, Im part mexican so I got that, pretty much whatever.

I kinda wish it was cleaner, my heritage, I'd like to have more than a 200 year history, but it's all good:

German, Dutch, Native American, Mexican, and pacific islander.

bleh.

Im goin wiv cockney now mate... la'as!
