[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Manning was terrified of looking like a goat on the drive before Bettis fumbled at the goal line. He was sacked twice in a row and almost got a safety. I've never seen a QB more scared of looking like a goat in my life. A non-pussy QB would have thrown the ball in an attempt to move his team down the field rather than almost get sacked for a safety. Manning knew he wouldn't be a goat if he didn't throw the ball, but Indy will never win a big game that way either. Brady, as a true leader, would have never taken those sacks. [/ QUOTE ] Of course Brady would have done it better. Nothing feels quite as good as a totally unprovable argument. But I'll fight fire with fire. A buddy of mine failed a test the other day, now I'm a pretty good test taker and although the situations in no way relate to one another, I would've passed it. Damn that does feel good, I gotta start doing that more often. Seriously though, Clark believes Peyton sucks, I don't. At least we can disuss why we think that and sight stats or plays or stratagies. That kind of "Brady would've done it"/"NE could've won it" stuff is just stupid. [/ QUOTE ] Fair enough. However, no quarterback can be considered great if he takes two sacks on (what should have been) his team's final drive with a chance to win. And you can't blame Manning's sack on Dungy either. Peyton had essentially taken over coaching at that point in the game, so Manning should have called for a quick out or something that would avoid a sack, rather than almost getting sacked for a safety. [/ QUOTE ] Bud I don't really agree with that part, those were coverage sacks. If he "Brett Farve Team of Destiny" heaves it down the field it's most likly picked and returned some. If he takes a sack, they at least get to punt. Now, on the last drive before the FG attempt, they had 3rd and 2 and one of the most dangerous backs in the league, oh yeah and the Steelers running the Dime. He elects to go for the kill. That was the mistake in my opinion. Cody |

[ QUOTE ]
He's always been on a team where he has to do very good in order for his team to win. So naturally, when he doesn't do awesome, its very difficult for his team to win, simple as that. Did Elway all of a sudden learn how to not choke, or did his team just get better? [/ QUOTE ] He didn't need to do "very well" in order for them to have avoided elimination in recent years. He merely needed to perform "average". Comparing his situation and Elway's is absurd. Elway carried talentless offensive units to the Super Bowl 3 times. The Colts, by comparison, have had all-world offensive talent surrounding Peyton. Take Elway off those teams and they might not even make the playoffs. Take Manning off his teams, and they might have won the Super Bowl. Is it likely, not necessarily. But it's certainly possible. And all one has to do is look at UT to see that it happened once already. |

[/ QUOTE ] Wow why stop there, why not say that if they traded Manning for Brady, the Colts would've been 17-0 (after the NFL awarded them a extra win out of reverence) and 3 women per game in each crown would've been spontaniously impragnated by Tom Brady's essence. This is getting good. Cody |

Did Elway all of a sudden learn how to not choke, or did his team just get better? [/ QUOTE ] This is laughable. The Colts were 13-0 this year. There was talk of an undefeated season. Their play harkened back to that great Miami Dolphis team. The Colts had the best team in the NFL until they played their first playoff game. Then: ack, ack, ack, Manning chokes. He can't even throw the ball when it counts because the monkey on his back won't let go of his throat. Personally, I now think Manning is basically done as a pro. This was his best chance and he knows it. He has a few more mediocre seasons in front of him and then he'll join Dan Marino in the studio. It also looks like Eli will follow in Peyton's footsteps. |

Ok, you're right. They should cut him.
And UT should have begged him to leave early. |

[/ QUOTE ] You do realize that if Vandy just made the FG, everyone would be talking about how clutch Manning was. How he sent the punting unit off, and willed his team to comeback. Instead some idiot kicker misses a FG and Manning "chokes again". |
